Monday, April 2nd

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but my lofty eating plans fell a tad short. Half a Blueberry Muffin from Sticky Fingers for breakfast. This was an excellent Muffin - moist interior, crunchy (sugar) top and Blueberries throughout. New to me and the blog.
MaPo Tofu and Spring Rolls from PF Changs for lunch. Followed by a frantic consumption of TJ's Chocolate Covered Almonds.
Here's the something new for the blog: A Veggie Burger Recipe from the Washington Post. This is a big deal to me! I haven't made a new recipe in months. Anyway, I left out the two tablespoons of honey because the recipe sounded sweet enough, but it was actually almost tasteless. What a waste of time, effort and ingredients. My photography 'skills' make the bad food (below) look good and the good food (above) look bad.
No dessert again, I'll catch up tomorrow.

No disappoint here, I'm jealous of your muffin! I haven't had PF Changs in a really long time, and I even have a gift card. Why am I not going?!

Tasteless new recipes are so frustrating! I can relate, if you can recall the baked crispy tofu debacle of last week, on my page. Will you jazz up the leftovers or move on?

Perfect muffin cross-section.
Interesting recipe! molasses and BBQ sauce in it, hey? Did you use no-salt beans? It sounds like it could use some salt and/or spices but you'd think the BBQ sauce would take care of that. Too bad. How many did it make?

Too bad the burger recipe didn't turn out. I hate it when that happens, which seems to be more often than not for us lately with new recipes.

The muffin sounds great, though, as does lunch!

Maybe you've already covered this, but when you eat halves of things, is it because you're full, you're trying to be frugal/save some for later, or trying to save calories? Just curious! Sorry you didn't enjoy your burger.

Hey that muffin looks pretty yummy. I love blueberry muffins.

It's very disappointing to put in the work to try a new recipe and then have it be a disappointment. Maybe you can salvage the remains with sauce or something as Ingrid did with her tofu.

Too bad about the burger recipe...it looks nice glazed on the outside though...and maybe it wasn't actually tasty, but it does look tasty.

Your lunch looks great; that MaPo tofu always gets me.

Hey Now!!!!!

Ingrid, I'll gladly trade you my tasteless burgers for your bland tofu!

FF, the recipe made eight burgers, so seven brown blobs are sitting in our basement fridge as I type this. Blog giveaway, perhaps?

Molly, don't tell me Mike doesn't know how to recognize a bad recipe and save it before it's too late!

Jenny, the halfsies thing is one of all those things you mentioned. I'll try to make it clearer in the future why I only eat half of something.

Miss Rachel, so you're saying to mash the burgers back into one big burger, add more seasoning and then reform into individual burgers?

Rose, at least Breakfast & Lunch were great. Still, these meal failures prey on my mind.

Oops! I'm so dumb I remember looking at the post and then my internet crapped out and I forgot to come back and comment when it came back! Anyway, that muffin looks amazing and fresh and I think lunch looks really good! Bummer about the recipe, it always sucks when a recipe doesn't come out well. Haha @ the giveaway though!
