Thursday, May 31st

The last half of another Sticky Fingers Blueberry Muffin for breakfast. Impressive crumb for such a stale muffin.
If I went into detail about the things I like that go away once I start liking them, I would be deemed paranoid. Plus, typing it all up isn't worth the effort. Admittedly, I had more than enough opportunity to eat at Kobe Grill during the many years they were in business. I squandered that opportunity. 'New management' has taken over Kobe Grill (soon to be renamed 'Asian Fusion'). I discovered this today after calling in my lunch order. What I expected to be Garlic Spicy Tofu was now Spicy Garlic Tofu. The Brown Rice had become Fried Rice(with egg) and the Spring Roll was wound so tightly there was no spring whatsoever. 'Good luck' to the folks at Asian Fusion. 'Goodnight sweet friend' to Kobe Grill.
TJ's Cream Cheese and Olives on a slice of WF's Pumpernickle for dinner. Life goes on.
Coming up tomorrow: Another third of a new giant danish from Vegan Treats. The Roasted Vegetable Salad from CPK.

Another Compelling Wordless Wednesday

What can one say about PB & J on an English Muffin, Gardein Crispy Tenders or Tofurky Hot Dogs that hasn't already been said before? Let me know, cuz I can't think of anything.

WTF Tuesday

Kashi Autumn Wheat with Almond Milk for breakfast.
No lunch again today. Weird, but I'm confident the highlight of my day will return soon.Tofurky Italian Deli Slices on a WF's Pretzel Roll for dinner. I double checked the Pretzel Roll ingredients and do not see sugar listed.
At least I made up for yesterdays lack of gluten. More working from home tomorrow.

Monday, May 28th

I finally made FF's Rising Sun Smoothie this morning. Following the recipe exactly except for the Spriulina, I was quite impressed with this interpretation. I believe the lemon juice made it too refreshing and less decadent than it really is. More Tahini and sweetener is necessary to fully achieve the greatness of a RS Smoothie, but this is a good jumping off point.

1.5 T molasses
1.5 T tahini
juice from 1/2 a lemon (about 2 tsp)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 T coffee
1 tsp spirulina (I didn't add this)
dash of nooch
1 large handful spinach
1 frozen banana, sliced
1/2 inch knob of ginger or 1/2 tsp. powdered ginger
1/2 to 1 cup water

The heat has been getting to me, so no lunch. Morningstar Farms Vegan Grillers and TJ's Tots for dinner.
This day almost qualifies as gluten-free, I believe. Coming up tomorrow: Working from home.

Sunday, May 27th

We were able to get downtown, eat breakfast at Sticky Fingers and hightail it out of there before Rolling Thunder shut down the District this morning. My French Toast Platter $9.95 with Tofu Scramble and Cheesy Grits. Unbelievably delicious.
For some reason, I was too stuffed from breakfast to eat lunch till it was almost dinner time. I'd picked up a Chicken Wrap $7.50 from the refrigerated section.
Enjoyed with some Fritos (I'm on vacation!) So it was an all-Sticky Fingers day! And to think, I wasn't too impressed by this place on my first visit.
Then I was too stuffed from all that for dessert. The three day weekend is whizzing by as I predicted.

Saturday, May 26th

TJ's Cream Cheese and Cucumber on WF's Pumpernickle for breakfast.
Lunch was a Black Bean Burger at the Alamo Cinema and Drafthouse while watching 'Men In Back III in 3D'. I didn't dare take a pic cuz the theatre really pounds into the audience that no disturbances (texting in particular) of any kind will be tolerated during the feature.

(Imagine pic here)

Chicky got his/her cast off today and on the way home from the vet, I saw this turtle crossing the double lane 55 mph highway. I was able to make a u-turn and grab it before it was too late. (This pic was taken on our driveway)
Here is the Turtle being released into our backyard. We are of the belief it is an Eastern Painted Turtle.

The last of Blessed Mama's Maple Glazed Seitan Roast with HP Sauce and a Baked Potato for dinner.

A couple squares of a  Theo Cherry Almond Bar for dessert.
Coming up tomorrow: No food plans whatsoever.  Let's hope it is a good food day.

Friday, May 25th

Half of another Sticky Fingers Blueberry Muffin for breakfast.
A Groupon-induced lunch from Brooklyn's Deli. My Veggie Wrap $8.99 was just like they eat in Brooklyn.
It's Vodka, Lemonade and Hot Dogs Day. I was so excited, I forgot to take a pic before I began the celebration.
I couldn't find any Field Roast Frankfurters this past week, so I had to make do with Tofurky which were very good.
Obvs I prefer girth over length, but beggars can't be choosers.
Coming up tomorrow: the kick-off of what will be the fastest 72 hours of my life.

Thursday, May 24th

The last third of my Cherry Danish for breakfast.
A bowl of Adobo Black Bean Chili...
and a Salad from WF's for lunch.
I'd bought a Groupon for this place before I knew they wouldn't carry Soy Cheese but instead would have digusting smiling critters on their menu. (I'm desperate for vegan pizza).  At lunchtime, I picked up a cheeseless pizza and reheated it at dinner with some Daiya.
Vanilla Ice Cream with  Chocolate Syrup and an Uncle Eddies Vegan Cookie for dessert.
Coming up tomorrow: Another half of a Blueberry Muffin for breakfast, a healthy wrap for lunch and a celebration for dinner.

WTF Wednesday

I'd picked up a box of Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch Cereal for $2.30 at Big Lots several months ago. Finally broke it open this morning to try with some Almond Milk. Good but not as good as Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal (which I had also discovered for the first time at Big Lots).
Tofurky Italian Deli Slices on a WF's Pretzel Roll for lunch.
Blessed Mama's Maple Glazed Seitan Roast with HP Sauce and Roasted Cauliflower for dinner...
This afternoon, Chicky recreated Sunday's iconic pose (after first splashing around in the water dish).
And here is Chicky looking down upon his/her siblings and wondering why they are making such a huge mess for mommy to clean up.
Coming up tomorrow: The last third of my Cherry Danish for breakfast. WF's for lunch.

WTF Tuesday

A delicious breakfast of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal with  Almond Milk.

A steamed Artichoke for lunch (TJ's is still carrying them for $1.29 each). Since it was such a small Artichoke, I had some WF's Red Pepper Hummus with Pizzettina Crackers for an afternoon snack.

Tofu with Teriyaki Sauce and Bok Choy for dinner. This was my first time pre-freezing Tofu and it did have a better texture.
'Dessert' involved this stuff...
It was spread on more leftover Naan with Olives.
None of my pics of Chicky this afternoon came out. During the photography session, Chicky's siblings attempted to make a break for it out the side of their temporary abode.
These chicks are extremely advanced for their age. All ready to go off and see the world.
Coming up tomorrow: More processed foods.

Monday, May 21st

Breakfast was another third of the massive Cherry Danish from Vegan Treats via Loving Hut.
Sauteed Spinach Noodles $7.95 Soy Protein, Tofu Skin, Shiitake Mushrooms, Organic Carrots, Bean Sprouts, Broccoli, Snow Peas, Napa and Celery with a Spring Roll from Lotus Vegetarian for lunch.
Morningstar Vegan Grillers and TJ's Tots for dinner.
A Peanut Butter Cupcake with Melty Ganache from VCTOTW for dessert. The recipe made twelve and there are still three left.
'Chicky' wants to let everyone know the cast sucks (especially when it gets wet) but thanks so much for the well wishes. I'll get more pics tomorrow when I'm working from home.

Sunday, May 20th

Breakfast was Hummus on a Pumpernickle Bagel from City Bagel...
Gardein Crispy Tenders and Heinz-57 for lunch at home.
Blessed Mama's Maple Glazed Seitan Roast with HP Sauce and Baked Potato for dinner...I intended to have dessert, but then was fine without. Another intention: Fuzzy critter pics, but instead I went with feathered critter pics.... See there were these two chicks....Bought yesterday for $3 each at a Chicken Swap at Gowers Feed.... After purchasing the above chicks, the seller asked me if I wanted a chick with a broken leg for free. Currently named 'Chicky' cuz we don't know if it is a he or a she and 'Chicky' sounds like a gender-neutral name. Here is Chicky in a shoebox at the vet this afternoon.

$58 later, Chicky now has a cast on his/her leg and must remain separated and on soft bedding till his/her follow-up appointment next week.
Coming up tomorrow: Another third of my Cherry Danish for breakfast. Hopefully, Kobe Grill will be finished with their 'maintenance' and I can get some good Asian grub for lunch.
