Pre-Thanksgiving Grub

Lunch today was the buffet at Passage To India. The website says the buffet is $7.95, but it's really $10.99. There were only two veggie options without dairy -- Curried Chickpeas and Cabbage with Peas.
Dinner was Celebration Field Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Road's End Organic Gravy.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's vegan Thanksgiving feasts!

Not The Best Food Day

Today at 10:56am I ordered online from Fosters Grille for 11:15 pickup...At 11:15am, I walked into the restaurant and told the cashier I had ordered online. She then walks over to printer, pulls off a sheet of paper and hands it to the cook. I was miffed. (Not too miffed, they were handling my food). Ordinarily, I'm more meek, but I now had time to kill. What's the point of online ordering if I still have to wait? The cashier insisted the order had "just" printed out when I walked in because it said "11:15". It also had a prominent "10:56" timestamp. How could I be walking into the restaurant AND placing the online order at the same time? but details... details....Anyways, a frozen Gardenburger was flung into the deep fryer alongside the Fries and within minutes I was out of her *ss and on my merry way. God forbid she should just admit to not checking the printer till I arrived. As it was, the burger was tough and the fries were salty...
Dinner was Quick Vegetable Ragout, aka Bland Boring Mixed Veggies. Not enough salt and pepper in the world to save this dish. (Sure could've used some of that salt from my fries at lunch). Oh well, tomorrow is another food day...

It is. Dinner was a one of Alicia's Cutlets w/Heinz 57 and a side of Roasted Butternut Squash. A delicious day.

Comfort Food Friday

Many years ago, I was addicted to Entenmann's Raspberry Danish (washed down with a pot of coffee). Last year I found some Rugelach in the store that tasted just as good and were also vegan.
I hadn't seen them since then and I'd given up hope of ever seeing them again. I've even tried contacting the company via the website , but to no avail.
October 3rd, 2009. I am food shopping as usual. I see a small table. Sitting on it were five boxes of Raspberry Creme Rugelah. (Don't know why the sign said 'Cinnamon')
Who set up this little table and sign for a company and product that is unreachable?I debated buying all five boxes, but settled on just three. I'm currently down to my last box, but, since we've been experiencing such nasty weather lately, I felt like treating myself to three of the tiny delectable pastries for breakfast. Lunch was balls. Eleven Meatless Meatballs in Penang Sauce from Wegman's Asian Wokery Hot Bar. Dinner was Alicia's Cutlets w/Heinz 57 and Sweet Potato Fries.
A great food day.

Dinner was Sloppy-Joes:
...with Oven Fries...

I've made a vow never to post an unfocused picture again.

My Kung Pao Tofu was good...but not as good as it used to be.. Mr. SV wanted to show his Szechuan Stir-Fried Vegetables.Dinner was Alicia's Cutlets with Roasted Carnival Squash.

I thought these were super delicious. I loved the texture (even though mine didn't come out crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside). Thanks, Alicia! Great recipe!

Lasagna Roll-Ups

This past weekend, I made Lasagna Roll-Ups.
I used Susan's recipe for the filling.
Tonight I heated them up for dinner.I was way too generous when filling the noodles so I had a bunch leftover and made a non-rolled-up lasagna:
It will make an appearance later in the week.

Sprouting

The Sprout People say their seeds can last centuries "if stored properly." I've had this bag of Lentil, Adzuki and Garbanzo seeds that has been sitting on our kitchen counter for over eight years (don't ask) when recently Alicia motivated me to get back into sprouting.I soaked a half a cup of the seeds for about eight hours, drained and spread them out in clean open spaghetti sauce jars. I made sure to rinse the beans a couple times a day and within forty eight hours, we had little tails... Two weeks later and I now have lots of crunchy Sprouts!I don't use cheese cloth or a cap on the jars -- just fill them with water, drain and put the Sprouts back in their jars. This method helps me pick out the non-performers, of which there were hardly any! Today I enjoyed a handful of Sprouts with WF's Zesty Hummus and Tomato on Whole Wheat Bread.

Day Thirty One

In my on-going quest to understand the appeal of Eggplant, I had Baba Ganoush for lunch today at The Mediterranean Cafe. I knew if any place could do well by Eggplant, it would be this place.
It was good. I ate all of it, of course. Still don't get it though...
Mr. SV's Veggie Pasta was phenomenal as always.
I would've loved to go out of Vegan Mofo with a bang, but as is my style, I'm going out with a whimper instead. Happy Halloween! We return to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow...

This was my first time eating out of a bread bowl. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be, it was actually kinda difficult.
