WTF Thursday

Yes, I stayed home again today. I like it here. Eggless Egg Salad on a toasted Rudi's English Muffin for breakfast.
Carryout from Mimosa for lunch. The $6 Kung Pao Tofu with a $1.50 Spring Roll...
A Sparkling Beverage for an afternoon snack. Better than junk from the vending machine I guess.
Boca Chickn Patties with the last of the Roasted Asparagus for dinner.
An ancient Eli's Dream Big Bar for dessert. Unlike me, vegan candy bars do not age well.
Carryout from CPK for lunch tomorrow.

WTF Thursday

So I didn't go into the office again today.  Had the rest of the WF's Hemp Granola with Flaxseed Milk for breakfast.
Mr. SV brought in lunch.  Kung Pao Tofu and a Spring Roll $7.50 from Mimosa Restaurant.
Soy Boy Okara Burgers with Mac & Cheese from Dawson's Market for dessert.
Several reasons I prefer being home instead of the office (the sunbeam being one of them):
Lunch with Mom tomorrow...

Sunday, December 4th

Two cups of Grits from House of Light for breakfast (one cup would've been enough but I didn't want to risk it).
Then things went off the rails at lunch. Garlic Soba Noodles with Vegetables $9 from Mimosa Asian Restaurant. I got a box ready to take home half, but wound up eating the entire plate. Made me feel very sleepy.
I was in 'why bother?' mode, so two Tostadas for dinner.
In honor of Ingrid winning VaVa's giveaway, I ate my last Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodle (stuffed with Wegman's Crunchy PB) for dessert. Ingrid's life just improved considerably.
The Bathroom Cats came through their respective neutering/spaying with flying colors and now just want to wrestle and groom themselves all day. These will probably be the last pics of them, since they'll be moving to the barn soon to reunite with Mom and have lots of room to play.
This guy will be a tough one to not keep in the house. He just wants to love and be loved non-stop.A two-fer.
Their Mom, Marmalade Umlaut, is doing well in the barn. Although, the litter boxes don't seem to be of interest to her.

Friday, November 25th

Breakfast was at House of Light. Neither of us is Christian, Mr. SV just loves their Coffee & their Breakfast Burrito. I brought my own Tofutti Cream Cheese to go with the Toasted Bagel $1.95 (whenever I get carryout dressing etc I always save the little containers to use for situations like this).
Lunch was at Mimosa Asian Restaurant. My Spring Roll $1.50:
and Kung Pao Tofu $5 (no I don't eat the Rice)...
Field Roast Hazelnut Cranberry Roast En Croute and Zucchini Pancakes for dinner.
Here's something to be thankful for: An Old Navy Groupon. Take two Performance Fleece and call me in the morning.

Saturday, November 5th

Lunch was at Mimosa Asian Restaurant in Winchester (they appear to no longer have a web presence). The Spring Roll was $1.50 with the Lunch Special...
which was my $5 Kung Pao Tofu. Pretty great deal. We haven't been here for two years because I had felt the quality to be in decline, but todays meal was excellent value.
A Field Roast Frankfurter and Wegman's Baked Beans for dinner.
PB & Crackers for dessert.
At least tomorrow at this time it will be an hour earlier. Unless you're reading this tomorrow, it which case, it's the correct time.

A Good Lunch, A Great Dinner

Lunch at Mimosa today started with Spring Rolls...
My Kung Pao Tofu was good...but not as good as it used to be.. Mr. SV wanted to show his Szechuan Stir-Fried Vegetables.Dinner was Alicia's Cutlets with Roasted Carnival Squash.

I thought these were super delicious. I loved the texture (even though mine didn't come out crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside). Thanks, Alicia! Great recipe!

Not The Most Exciting Food Weekend

As the title of this post indicates, not much was worthy of posting about this weekend.
We had lunch at Mimosa on Saturday. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, but they salted my Asparagus Tempura and left Mr. SV's Edamame completely salt free.
My Kung Pao Tofu didn't 'agree' with me either if you know what I mean.
I found a few good deals at Big Lots -- Organic Soda for $2, Polish Mustard for $1 and imported Marzano Tomatoes for $1.50.Today I made Susan's Split Pea Soup.

It turned out great as usual. Hopefully, this week will prove more interesting.

Bryanna's Easy Spicy Middle Eastern Pasta and Chickpea Casserole

Lunch today at Mimosa (Sichuan Kung Pao Tofu -- outstanding as usual).
I've had my eye on this recipe for ages, but finally got around to trying it tonight. I sauteed a large Onion with Garlic, Crushed Peppers and Parsley.
Tossed it with Shell Pasta, Diced Tomatoes, Chickpeas and Water and put it in the oven for an hour....

It was delicious! The pasta wasn't as 'al dente' as I prefer, it was softer, but it was definitely all cooked. I will make this fun recipe again. Thanks, Bryanna!

Mimosa, Winchester

Today we went back to our tried and true Mimosa.

I had a Lotus Flower Martini (Absolut, Lychee
Liqueur, Curacao) along with some Edamame

and the Sichuan Kung Pao Tofu. All excellent.

Mimosa Again

Unlike yesterday, today we were completely
stuffed after lunch.

We started with some delicate and flavorful
Spring Rolls.

I went back to my usual Kung Pao Bean Curd...

...and Mr. SV had the Bean Curd in Spicy Basil
Sauce. A ton of delicious food for less than $25
including tip! Why isn't this restaurant packed
to the gills every day? It's fantastic!

New Menu Items At Mimosa

My favorite restaurant updated their menu.

Today we started with the Crispy Asparagus

and I had the Garlic Soba Noodles. Both were
superb!

Mimosa & Hunters Head Tavern

Saturday's lunch was at my current favorite
restaurant, Mimosa.

Unfortunately, I only remembered to take pics
of our appetizers: Edamame and Sweet Potato
Tempura. Both were excellent as always.

Today started out very chilly and so a cozy
pub was in order for lunch. We went to Hunters
Head Tavern
in Upperville.

They are very vegetarian friendly, not so much
vegan friendly. I had the Boca Burger. Can't get
that at home! (I do love the atmosphere here).

Sunshine Veggie Sandwich

This is what you get when you order the Sunshine
Veggie Sandwich (described on the menu as "a healthy
vegan sandwich with Lettuce, Diced Tomato and
Avocado) from Mimosa. There were none of those of
those items on this sandwich. Although there was some
Tomato Salsa on the side. What they served was Carrots,
Onions and Mushrooms, sauteed with some sort of
batter, atop a regular hamburger bun. It came
with Zucchini Matchsticks. All very delicious, but
kinda strange that it was nothing like the menu described.
