Whole Foods had Organic Strawberries from Mexico on sale for $3.99. Not the juciest, but very tasty. Spring is coming...
Common Market Eggless Egg Salad on a toasted Ezekiel English Muffin for lunch...
Black Bear Bistro Chili with Native Foods Cashew Cheese for dinner. Best Veggie Chili in the D.C. Metro Area per moi.
Vegan Treats Triple Berry Cheesecake for dessert...
All different grub tomorrow. Bye for now.

Saturday, February 7th

Well, wouldn't you know, today's Wrap was just so-so. Too much faux Chorizo and not enough Tofu. Better luck tomorrow....
Saw something new at Whole Foods today. Might buy a tub or two when the price drops...
Mr. SVegetarian went through Warrenton today and stocked up on Black Bear Bistro Chili. I enjoyed a bowl tonight with a slice of Randy Radish Cornbread...
Tomorrow might be more interesting. Bye for now.

Sunday, Dcember 7th

My 'Tofu Scramble Wrap' at True Food Kitchen this morning...
It has been a long time since I have had Black Bear Bistro's Veggie Chili. Mr. SVegetarian was driving by yesterday and picked up a few bowls to go. I enjoyed one tonight with a slice of LPQ's WW Bread. IMO, this is the best local Veggie Chili in the D.C. area. You cant rely on BBB having it, but when they do, it is seriously the best...
A big chunk of Peppermint Cookies and Cream Chocolate Bark for dessert...
A fantastic food day. Bye for now.

Saturday, March 1st

First meal of the day at Black Bear Bistro. My Chicken Sandwich on Rye with LTO & Vegenaisse $8. The Chicken appeared to be the Gardein Chicken Fingers. Quite excellent....
Mr. SVegetarian got the Two Vegan Dogs $7.95. They appeared to be Tofu Pups....
Last weekend, Mr. SVegetarian and I stopped into an Asian market and happened to see some Baby Eggplants. One of the few things Mr. SVegetarian and I have in common is our distaste for Eggplant, however, both of us were completely smitten with these tiny little Babies. How could something so adorbs possibly be bad?
Tonight, I tried cooking the Baby Eggplants. The first couple I ate weren't weren't too horrible, but after that, they got to be too much. Mr. SVegetarian didn't try any, so the Pups will be enjoying the rest. (Yes, the Roasted Cherry Tomatoes imploded a little)...
So Delicious Mocha Fudge for dessert (still can't get a good picture of this so delicious treat)...

Laterrrrr.

Saturday, February 8th

After sleeping in late, lunch was at Black Bear Bistro. My 'Vegan Meatloaf Sandwich on Rye' $7.50 with Onion & Tomato....

unasked they gave me a big dollop of Vegenaisse on the side! That is what I call hospitality. All super delicious as usual.
Not the best picture, but below are some (not all) of their latest offerings. They had Vegan Sloppy Joes as a special today. You just never know till you get there what to expect...
Used up some leftover Super Bowl Nacho Fixins making some Tostadas for dinner...

Peanut Butter Newman-Os for dessert. These things ain't bad. At all...
LPQ tomorrow? It could happen.

Sunday, January 12th

Black Bear Bistro was better than ever today. I started with a Cup of their outstanding 'Vegan Chili' $4.95..
The hearty Chili was more than enough food, but I didn't know that before I'd already ordered more. My 'Fall Garden Salad' $9.95  Chopped Romaine Lettuce, Marinated Cauliflower  Florets, Broccoli Florets, Carrots, Onions, and Poached Beets.  Thousand Island Dressing on the side...
packed all that in plus a side of Fries...
So stuffed was I, that I tried to just lay down and take a nap when I got home. Unfortunately, Molly was like, "No way. I'm gonna get in your face and make you pet me instead." So I had to.
Come dinner time, I still hadn't digested, so I went straight for dessert: A slice of 'Pina Colada Cheesecake' $5 from Vegan Treats via Loving Hut. Really great...
Then I started to think that I did have room for dinner after all, so I went for my current favorite: a 'Tofurky Oven Roasted Deli Slice Sandwich'. Also great...
Back to the same old grub tomorrow.

Monday, September 2nd

After deep long thought about where to have our final vacation meal, Black Bear Bistro was chosen. The 'Tempeh Reuben' $7.95 was excellent, so much so that I got another one to go for later in the week...
Tofu Scramble and Home Fries for dinner...
PPK Marbled Banana Bread for dessert.
That concludes the three-day weekend.

Sunday, August 25th

The Atlantic Ocean this morning. I drove to the Eastern Shore to visit my mother while she's staying at the beach...
A raw lunch was enjoyed at My Nature in Ocean City, Maryland....
We each got the 'Sampler Platter' $13 which included a Veggie Patty, a 'Bagel' with Sauerkraut, Celery Salad and Salad Bar. Very good food...
En route back home, I kept pace with a Safari Airstream for a while on Route 50...
While I was traveling, Mr. SVegetarian was out and about on his motorcycle. He stopped at Black Bear Bistro and brought me back two Tempeh Reubens. The first one for dinner tonight was outstanding. There were also Fries, but they were in the oven when I took the pic...
Extremely stuffed, so no dessert. WFH grub tomorrow (including the other Reuben).

Saturday, June 22nd

Sarah Kramer Banana Pancakes with TJ's Maple Syrup for breakfast...
Lunch was at Black Bear Bistro where Mr. SVegetarian and I split some out of focus Grilled Artichokes and Red Pepper Coulis to start...
I had the 'Garbanzo Burger' with Red Pepper Coulis and Fries. It was just so so. I'm not doing so well eating out lately except for The Randy Radish.
CSA Soup comprised of Yellow Squash, Snap Peas, Hakurei Turnips (including the Greens), Beet Greens,  Basil, and Oregano. Non CSA components were the Wegmans Organic Diced Tomatoes, Garbanzos, Onion, Garlic and Chili Powder. I made a massive pot of this Soup, so it will be around for a while...
PPK Banana Bread for dessert.
The Eastern Phoebes Chicks have grown substantially in the past few days and lost their peach fuzz, but their eyes still appear closed.
I sure hope I eat all delicious food all day tomorrow.

Sunday, March 10th

An intense craving for Veggie Chili lead us to Black Bear Bistro for lunch. Wouldn't you know, they no longer offer the winter menu. No Veggie Chili. No Vegan Burger. Had to punt. Went with the Hand Cut Sweet Potato Chips $6.95 with Maple Syrup Sauce to start.
The Black Bean Burger $7.95 as the entree. All very delicious, but disappointing at the same time. Looks like they're no longer emphasizing the vegan thing on their menu.
I bought a container of General Tso's Seitan a few weeks ago at WF's and totally forgot about it. Hard to believe but true. Finally ate it tonight. Pretty good.
A Strawberry Cupcake from Dawson's Market for dessert. I especially like the sparkles on top.
The Croci are hanging strong even after being buried under a foot of snow.
How to spend the rest of my evening now? Reading or surfing the net...decisions...decisions...
WFH Grub tomorrow as there is no way I can get my *ss up an hour earlier.

Sunday, February 10th

Brunch was at Black Bear Bistro, where the cup of Vegan Chili $4.50 really hit the spot.
My Vegan Burger $8.95 was as phenomenal as ever. Hope they keep it on the menu year-round.
Dinner was Tofu Scramble creamed up with some Tofutti Cream Cheese all Ingrid-style. Really improved it.
A locally-made Raw Bliss Chocolate Cup for dessert.
Back tomorrow with completely different food.
