Ma & Pa Kettle Go To The Big City

We ventured into D.C. for a peak at the Norman Rockwell exhibit and to use up our Groupon at Cafe Green. I had two "Ginger Love" cocktails - Green Mountain Organic Vodka, Fresh Ginger Syrup, Organic Lemon & Agave $8. Below are our starters: my Mac & Cheese and Mr. SV's Winter Chili.

My 'Steak & Cheese' was made w/the same cheese sauce as was on the Mac & Cheese. The Baguette was really excellent, but IMO Whole Food's has a better Seitan Panini.

Mr. SV's Cheeseburger. He inhaled it so I assume it was to his pleasure.
We enjoyed a couple bottles of Tattinger's Champagne tonight while watching a Netflix (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World).
Dinner was Kelp Soup, carryout from lunch (Kelp, Kale, Seaweed, Kimchi & Edamame in Spirulina Broth). Very delicious.
Black Bottom Cupcakes were carryout as well. I can actually make better than these restaurant cupcakes!
Talk at ya next year.

Another Non-Technicolor Day

Lunch was Mizuni Sansai Noodles (Sauteed Soy Gluten, Wood Ear Mushrooms, Japanese Parsley, Bracken and Vegetables tossed with SeaCress) and a Spring Roll from Sunflower.
Dinner was the last piece of Field Roast and a 'Hedgehog' Potato.
A couple more CranCrazy Cookies for dessert. Even though these are rather hard, I will be sad when they are gone, just because they're "Cran Crazy".

WTF Wednesday

Today was not a nutritional bonanza. Another Yves Bologna Sandwich, this time on Pretzel Bread, for lunch.
Tofurky Pepperoni Pizza for dinner. 810 calories for the whole thing.
My expectations were extremely low, so I really enjoyed it.
A tart & tangy piece of Bryanna's Holiday Caramel Cranberry Pecan Cake for dessert.
Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot.

My Pals, PF & Yves, Served Me Well Today

Lunch was Ma Po Tofu and a Spring Roll from PF Changs.
I wasn't hungry for dinner tonight, but I wanted a picture for the blog, so I made an Yves Bologna Sandwich. It was phenomenal! Thanks, Readers! If not for you, I would have skipped dinner and never have enjoyed this sandwich.
A couple more CranCrazy Cookies for dessert. Where is a teething baby when you need one?

Majorly Dull, Not Too Colorful Either

Lots of Artichokes, White Beans and Marinated Mushrooms from WF's Salad Bar.
More leftover Field Roast (I bought another one today, $17.99, on sale. Pricey, yes, but feeds five hungry vegans...at least) with Gravy and Baked Potatoes with Sour Supreme and Bac'Uns.
Dessert was a warmed up piece of Bryanna's Holiday Caramel Cranberry Pecan Cake with a scoop of Soy Delicious Dulche De Leche.
Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot.

All Leftovers, All Excellent

Tempeh on Soba Noodles tossed in Peanut Sauce
Hazelnut Cranberry Field Roast En Croute with Road's End Organic Gravy, Butternut Squash & Cranberry Sauce for dinner.A couple more CranCrazy Cookies for dessert. These have gotten extremely hockey puckish over the last 48 hours. Still good, but jaw power required.

Where Is Everyone?

Lunch was some pretty bad Kung Pao Tofu.
...which made me crazy thirsty and resulted in my enjoying a frosty Root Beer.
Dinner was a limited edition Field Roast:
with Butternut Squash, Cranberry Sauce & Road's End Organic Gravy. It was all extremely delicious.

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Lunch was another quart of Hot Hot Shabu Shabu (Yuba, Tofu, Bean Sprouts, Bean Thread Noodles, Dried Mushroom Chunks, Broccoli & Baby Bok Choy) from Sunflower. Since I was reheating it at home, I got the brilliant idea of watering it down so it wouldn't be so spicy. Brain food this is.
Dinner was Zoa's Seitan of Genius and Bok Choy. Such a unique recipe, I learned a lot about Asian cuisine just from making this one dish.
Dessert was a few of these CranCrazy Cookies I also made today (subbing Earth Balance for butter & Flaxseed for eggs). Why these particular cookies jumped the queue of all the vegan desserts I've been planning to make is a mystery to me (okay they were super simple and only a few ingredients), but they turned out great.
PB on Whole Wheat for a snack while watching an old movie (The Human Comedy, 1943).

Sushi & Sausage

Lunch was one of the so called 'Specials' today at Komu Sushi. Cucumber, Avocado and Shitake Maki with a Salad and Ginger Dressing for $13.
Tofurky Italian Sausage, Steamed Spinach and Rice & Beans for dinner.
Black Swan Cabernet Sauvignon.

WTF Wednesday

A quart of Hot Hot Shabu Shabu (Yuba, Tofu, Bean Sprouts, Bean Thread Noodles, Dried Mushroom Chunks, Broccoli & Baby Bok Choy) from Sunflower for lunch. So spicy that flames were shooting out of my ears, but look at that huge piece of Yuba on top!
Sunflower Fried Chick'n for dinner.

I Love Food, Especially In Large Quantities

Red Robin hit it out of the park again today.
Dinner was my first attempt at creating one of Zoa's Hot Pot/Noodle Bowls. My elements (Napa, Sprouts and Tofu) were a tad bland, but the Chili Sauce tied it together nicely and I look forward to future experimentations.
Dessert was the absolute last of the Apple Apricot Cake (I swear). There is no more, and, for the record, it is finally starting to lose its moistness.

A Lentil Wrap, Chili, Fingers, A Sweet Potato, PB Crackers

Lunch was a Lentil Dal Burger Wrap and a cup of Adobo Black Bean Chili.
Dinner was Gardein Crispy Chick'n Fingers and a baked Sweet Potato.
PB & Crackers for dessert.
Black Swan Shiraz.

A Semi-Asian Themed Day

Lunch was Tempeh on Soba Noodles. The Soba Noodles were tossed in this Peanut Sauce (subbing Agave for honey).
Tofu & Bok Choy for dinner.
A Whole Food's Ginger Snap for dessert.
In response to yesterday's queries re the Saag Tofu: I used Soy Delicious Coconut Yogurt in lieu of regular. I also used less than half of the recommended one cup of yogurt due to my inadvertently switching the amounts of Cumin & Curry Powder. This mistake resulted in my discarding most of the Cumin-tainted yogurt. Black Swan Shiraz.

Six More Shopping Days Till Christmas

Lunch was Morningstar Vegan Grillers and Tater Tots.
Dinner was Saag Tofu. The recipe was just so-so, I wouldn't bother to make it again.

Today's Food Astounds Even Myself!

Lunch was at Panache where I started with the Hummus Tapas.
I also enjoyed the "Panache Salad" -- Endive, Green Apples, Dates and Cucumbers with a Lemon Vinaigrette.
Tofu and Bok Choy for dinner.
Dessert was Apple Apricot Cake. It's a little messed because I thought that the Apple Cake was no more. Not only was I wrong, but look at that moistness!
