WTF Wednesday

A quart of Hot Hot Shabu Shabu (Yuba, Tofu, Bean Sprouts, Bean Thread Noodles, Dried Mushroom Chunks, Broccoli & Baby Bok Choy) from Sunflower for lunch. So spicy that flames were shooting out of my ears, but look at that huge piece of Yuba on top!
Sunflower Fried Chick'n for dinner.
Black Swan Cabernet Sauvignon.

the thing on the spoon was yuba? i need to look that up....fried chicken? lol id probably like it but i wasnt a fan of "real" fried chicken. i wonder what spice they used in that soup to make it so hot. usually if its really spicy its not that clear.

ok i looked it up, thats what i thought it was. i think i got that before in a mixed veggie take out from a VERY authenic asian food place (authentic as in..ducks in the window) i was in the car after our first thanksgiving with Walters family, it was dark and i rememeber practically crying because i didnt know what the heck it was and if it was vegan etc. lol that seems so long ago now!

That looks like Buddha's chicken (just layers of yuba wrapped up tight with brushings of sesame oil etc. in between and steamed), but so tender. I wonder how they got it that way. Boiled it instead of steamed? Hmmm... Awesome-looking soup! And all that heat is super good for a body, IMO, even if it does make you cry sometimes.

Oh, oh, oh! The whole day looks delish! I've never seen that food before, but it sure looks good. I've never had a yuba; I'll have to give those a try.

Shabu Shabu...sounds fun.

Um, if my previous comment happened to give anyone ideas, do not try to boil the Buddha's chicken instead of steaming it. Or you will be sorry. You can steam it first and then boil it a bit, but not, apparently, the other way round.

Hello, Ladies & FF, thank you for your kind words and for visiting my blog.

Michelle1, yes, that thing on the spoon was Yuba, aka 'Tofu Skin', but no need for tears: it is good! Cruelty free!

Rose, I know, like 'hubba hubba'. So freakin' hot tho.

Zoa, I am getting closer to feeling more comfortable making Buddha's chicken -- no boiling. Just steaming.
