Friday, December 27th

I brought the remnants of a container of Daiya to work because I thought I only had enough left for one last schmear. I was wrong, there is enough left for at least another big schmear. Had to schlepp the container back home...
Below is a terrible picture of a really great lunch. The 'Roasted Vegetable Salad' $12.25 with Beets, Carrots, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Onions,  Tomatoes and Olives served over Spring Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side at Normandie Farm Restaurant...
They offer French Rolls in place of their famous Popovers for us vegan diners...
Okara Burgers with Oven Fries for dinner...
Three Cocomels for dessert...
No food plans for tomorrow.  Not a one.

Could you not have left the tub at work, bought your new tub on the weekend for home, and had the last schmear at work rather than doing all that schlepping?

I hate when I have to schlepp stuff back and forth from work. I guess the good news is you have another good schmear from that container? It went a little further than you thought! The roasted veg salad looks really delicious. You can't go wrong with a good roasted veggie salad. I've heard great reviews of those cocomels too, how did you like them?!

As for the LI vegan places, yes there are options here but sadly most are at least an hour away from me if not more (I'm on the Nassau County/Queens border which is the very Western part of LI and a lot of those are way out East) and a bunch of them are grocery stores haha. I've been to that first listing, 3 brother's pizzeria and it was ok. Not as good as Loving Hut ;)

Thick schmears are the best kind! That lunch salad is impressive and so colorful- and really nice they had a vegan bread option for you too.
Cocomels?!? I need those in my life!

Your dinner veggies from last night looked so good- dark greens with mac n cheese is such a good match. And that cake! Wow.....

I was a bit heavy handed adding candied ginger (and fresh and ginger powder!) to the cupcakes, and made a tofutti vanilla cream cheese frosting.... Had the last one for breakfast today :)) i'm enjoying the sunshine and furry lovin' a few more days here before heading back to reality...

Despite my inability to correctly guess your lunch out, this looks like a delicious meal!

Now that the major food holidays are over, options are limitless for future food plans!

Hey Now!!!!

Hannah, the thought of leaving any personal food at work was not even an option.

Sarah, the Cocomels were really great. I highly recommend them. The one time I went to Nassau Coliseum, I was vegetarian, not vegan. I did see lots of really neat looking retro diners, ate at one even. I remember the area fondly.

Unknown, you would be a Cocomel lover. I thought you would do a Cream Cheese Frosting for the cupcakes. I need to try that. Give Chip, Al & Piggy lots of love for me too.

Ingrid, the deck is stacked in your favor for the next two - three months. There will definitely be: PF Changs, La Sandia, CPK, Cheesecake Factory and Wildfire in the immediate mix.
