WTF Tuesday

Lots of great food today but not so great photos. Nature's Path Raisin Bran with Hemp Milk for breakfast...
An Avocado Sandwich with Carrots and TJ's Mini Heirloom Tomatoes for lunch. I drizzled on some LPQ Basil Oil Dressing from previous carryout. Wish this meal lasted longer...
Unknown, aka She Who Refuses To Blog, recommended I make this Hunter's Stew a looong time ago. Finally got around to making it today. Saltines subbed for Croutons because when I make Croutons they always turn into rocks. Corn subbed for Split Peas because I thought that would work better for me. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly and it was fantastic. Why did I wait so long to try it?
Half of a Vegan Treats Brownie via Loving Hut for dessert. No Icing on top but lots of Chips inside. Excellent Brownie...
All different grub tomorrow...

Whoa! Check out that brownie! I feel like I've been starting with dessert a lot lately but that looks incredible. I love chocolate chips in my brownies too. Yum. Your lunch looks great too. Gotta love the avocado open faced sandwich. How have your tomatoes been? Mine weren't so great, wah. Great looking Stew too! Unknown definitely knows what's up... it's a shame there's no blog to accompany the great suggestions!

I feel a lot of pressure with the recipe for the Sandies... especially because I don't think I've ever had one before so I'm not even sure what I'm going for! If I have had them it has been a LONG time and I don't remember them! Any texture and flavor hints would help :) Texture especially.

Raisin Bran and the Avocado Sandwich both are needed in my meal rotation soon! Looks delicious! I was just thinking about the Beefless Red Wine Stew, but figured I should try something else - I'm going to check out the recipe you linked.

That is one gorgeous brownie!

That sandwich! What a masterpiece!! It could easily be featured as an LPQ "tartine" for $14! Great idea to use the basil oil.
So glad you liked the stew, its a good one. Saltines are a brilliant idea with it- the croutons are kind of fussy anyhow. Did you have saltines with peanut butter as a snack when you were a kid too?
The brownie looks nice and dense. I never understood those "cakey" brownie people. Fudgey and dense is the only way to go.

I Citibike! (Its a verb you know...) there's a station literally across the st from my apt. Too much rain for it today though.

I'm not even going to mention how good that brownie would be warmed up and drizzled with peanut butter. Nope.

I think I'm going to have to recreate your avo sammie for my dinner...

I love that cereal. One of my faves! Great looking stew and brownie. It's always exciting to find a great new recipe.

Hey Now!!!!

Sarah, there were a few iffy Tomatoes in my TJ's box, but I'm still glad I got them. The Sandies are like the texture of a Chips Ahoy or Lorna Doone. You can do it. I have faith! (But, if you fail, it will be splashed all over the inter webs).

Ingrid, I highly recommend the Hunters Stew recipe. It's much easier than the Beefless Beef Stew, and almost as satisfying.

Unknown, you picked up on the LPQ use of 'Tartine' for 'Open-Faced Sandwich' too, eh? I forgive them since they put the little Carrot next to the ones that are vegan. Thank you so much for the Stew recipe. Mr. SV loved it as well. He still eats the Saltines with PB but I've graduated to Crackers. I don't understand cakey Brownies either! What is the point?! That's cool that you Citibike. A Vespa might be interesting to tool around on as well.

Hannah, I SO KNEW YOU WOULD MENTION THAT!!!!

Abby, I lucked out with a perfectly ripe Avocado. Hope you do as well.

RVs, it's an easy stew recipe. Maybe you could slip it into Mike's rotation? Ingrid turned me on to the Oatmeal Squares. I never would have thought to buy them.
