Monday, July 18th

The hot meals were already out at Whole Foods and the girl was attaching labels identifying everything when I arrived. She labeled the brown concoction below as 'vegan' so I informed her that, no, that sign is incorrect, it is not vegan. 'It is vegan!' she insisted. She seemed pretty smart, much smarter than me, so I went with it. And it was certainly fantastic. Very much like Seitan Stroganoff. So fantastic was this dish, in fact, that I doubt I'll ever see it again (whatever it was).
My personal experience: WF's either has too many great things, or nothing great at all. Today it was the former situation. The Salad/Udon Noodle Mix was on the Salad Bar and I had secretly sworn that I would load up on it if they ever had it again. Ergo double lunch. Double greatness.
Yves Salami Sandwich and Potato Salad for dinner.
Half of a Sticky Fingers Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert. Not many chips, but still extremely satisfying. (It's hard to tell from the pic, but it's a very large cookie).
On the Rum.

You hit the jackpot at WF today! Both lunches look so freaking good!! That is totally something I'd risk gluten related illness on lol. Mmmm cookie :)

I definitely would have gone back to those cold Udon noodles too.

My WF usually swings on the "nothing great at all" side.

The seitan and the udon look yummy! And you're on the rum, so does that make you rummy? :D

Double lunch sounds like the way to go. We have the same thing at the co-op we shop at. Either lots of goodness or not much at all. They had a fantastic vegan strawberry cheesecake once in the years we've been shopping there. Just once. *sigh*

You always manage to end up with a nice variety of stuff from the Whole Foods hot bar. Me? I always end up with a plate full of chicken fried tofu and nothing else. It's bad. hahaha.

Huh, why did you think that brown mix wasn't vegan?

You do such a great job portioning out your desserts and tater salad, can't you save food from the "really great" WF days for the future? I know it's tough to resist, but if you can split the cookie...

Hey Now!!!!

VaVa, not worth risking illness for! There's plenty of gluten-free goodness out there now.

FF, yeah, pretty impressive how WFs manages to create these unique food combinations.

Rose, I would love to be a rummy and a pirate. Maybe one day.

VF, Strawberry Cheesecake! I know exactly what you're talking about!

Jessica,I swear, this brown dish was the most non-vegan dish I ever saw. I had no idea if it was good or even vegan. Now that I know it's great and hopefully vegan, I would've totally bought gallons of it, but they personally dole out the hot food. You get one scoop, the employee looks at you to see if you want another. It's embarrassing to take more than a pound of hot food. Aren't you glad you asked.
