Friday, November 16th

Blah...Blah..Blah...
Lunch was at Mykonos Grill, where my mother and I split a couple appetizers. 'Greek Fasolia'  $4.75 Northern Beans with Olive Oil, Lemon, and Chopped Onions...

and 'Melitzanosalata' $6.50 A smoked mousse Eggplant froth, Olive Oil, Lemon Juice and Herbs...
and I had a Small Salad $6. Good grub, nice atmosphere, professional service.
Dinner was a few slices of this TJ's Roast $9.99:
I also have a Gardein Roast lined up in the freezer, but in a side-by-side comparison of boxes, the pups prefer the $9.99 TJ's Roast over the $16.99 Gardein Roast....
The TJ's Roast was good, but not as good as a Field Roast Hazelnut Cranberry Roast en Croute. Few things are. Nonetheless, this TJ's Roast will be shown on the blog for the next several days (until I'm finished consuming it).
A half a piece of  Pumpkin Spice Cake for dessert.

When you are finished with both the Trader's Joe version and Gardein's, I'd like a ranking of all roasts you've tried. I've noticed that the Field Roast flies off the shelves first here- so it's obviously #1. Gardein needs to lower their price - geez!

Haha I love your side by side comparison and your pup voting system. I'm with Ingrid, Gardein prices are entirely too high... for EVERYTHING. It's a bit outrageous and a bit of a bummer.

Looks like some great choices from Mykonos Grill! Can't go wrong with a good Greek/Mediterranean lunch. Doing appetizers and a salad is a perfect way to go too.

I like the Greek restaurant options. I went out to one a couple weeks ago with my parents (what is it with parents and Greek restaurants?) and it was really difficult to find anything without dairy. It was also expensive but I wasn't paying. And I did get to drink some wine... Anyway.
Are you saving the pricier Gardein roast for real Thanksgiving or do you not really celebrate?
I didn't know TJ offered a similar product as I haven't been in a while but I'm not about to stop by there anytime this week.

Wow, it seems only a short time ago that Tofurky was the only game in town for vegan Thanksgiving roasts, but I guess it has been more than a few years now. I'm always pleased to see more vegan options although some of the prices might be a bit much.

Hey Now!!!!

Ingrid, hoping the competition from Field Roast and Beyond Meat will cause Gardein to lower their prices. I try to only buy their products on sale. So far, Field Roast is the best of all.

VaVa, the pups were getting super aggressive with the TJ's Roast. I literally had to pull it away from Molly.

FF, NY & NJ have a lot more Greek restaurants than the DC area. I hate Thanksgiving, but am forced to 'celebrate' this year at a local restaurant. If you can avoid any grocery store over the next four days, I would advise doing so.

Miss Rachel, it was pretty grim when Tofurky was the only game in town (no pun intended. or is it?) I never liked the Tofurky Roast.
