A half inch of snow fell overnight which subsequently kept me inside all day today cooking and doing 'housework'. PPK Puffy Pillow Pancakes with Maple Syrup and overcooked Soysage for breakfast.
WF's Red Pepper Hummus with Pizzettina Crackers for lunch.I've made it a personal rule not to let a winter pass without making at least one batch of Skinny Bitch Beef Stew. This batch needed a little somethin' somethin'. Kitchen Bouquet did the trick.Half a slice of Orange Cake from Vegan Treats via Loving Hut for dessert.
Coming up tomorrow: a Groupon-induced breakfast out and a stop in Wegmans.

OK, I'll give this a try, hopefully it'll still be here when you check tomorrow!
The pancakes look perfectly fluffy and I used to love crispy faux sausage. Hummus and crackers is always delicious and that stew looks hearty and perfect for a snowy day! The icing on that cake looks really fluffy. yum!
It snowed a few inches up here and it was wonderful to have to scrape the ice off of my car that accumulated during the 5 hours I was at work after I already had to scrape it to get to work. I'm a baby about the cold :)
Understand that I laughed out loud at a "half inch". However, I do know that means something different in your neck of the woods. I think being closer to the coast creates a different kind of chilly. It's so arid here, our snow is usually the fluffy kind (not to mention, we have to apply hand lotion about 6 times a day - yes, it's that dry).
I saw that recipe on PPK recently - glad you tried it out for me! Looks great! I'll be trying out a Skinny B recipe tomorrow - great vegan minds think alike.
P.S. Congrats to Jenny, and Sarah - I see it! :)
did you order those crackers from the website? or did you luck out and find them around by you? They sound pretty good, especially with the hummus.
Num-num, those pancakes look so good (I'm hungry for breakfast right now)!
Does Loving Hut ever have just plain vanilla cake (no fruit or anything)? I LOVE vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, but it's hard to find such that is vegan. Of course, I can make one myself, but maybe you could mail me a piece from Loving Hut.
Are the dogs enjoying the snow? Happy weekend to you.
I'm just picturing you in the kitchen cooking away, whisks twirling, mashers mashing, spoons stirring, the heat from the oven warming you. Was it as Rockwellish as I'm imagining?
I like that you have a few traditional meals, like that stew. Good to have a stand-by. Also, that orange cake looks scrumptious.
Those pancakes do look puffy and nice. Well done!
I agree with Maud that those pizza crackers sound really tasty; I must have a look for some next time.
Also, very good to see the return of SB stew.
We got snow last week too, and all I did was basically sleep, eat, and drink lots of wine...it was great, but now I have to get back to normal; I think I gained a few pounds! :D
Hey Now!!!!!
VaVa, your post is still here! So no covered parking at your job? Doesn't it piss you off to have to scrape your windshield when you just want to go home? Have you gotten over your bronchitis?
Ingrid, it took many years, but now I too have a panic attack when the weather folks say 'snow'. Can't wait to hear/see how your recipes turned out. My Pancakes weren't so puffy.
FF, I found the crackers at a store called 'Big Lots'. They carry stuff that for some reason or another failed in real stores. That said, I must stock up on more crackerz cuz they're crazy good.
Miss Rachel, all the desserts at Loving Hut come from the Vegan Treats Bakery in Bethlehem, Pa. They don't do plain too much. I did make this cake last year and it was a hit:

Blessed Mama, I don't want to shatter your illusions, but suffice to say, I was not looking my best and the kitchen was not looking its best. The food looked good though!
Rose, so you just slept, ate and drank wine??? You didn't work on a blog post??? Come on! You owe us Christmas Ravioli and a Molly update. Anyway, glad you, Jenny & FF finally resurfaced cuz I wonder what happens when bloggers just disappear.
