Tuesday, September 10th

As I said on Sunday, an Atlantic City overnight stay with my mother was in the offing. Now I'm back. So here's the food-related report. Yesterday started off with Tofutti Cream Cheese on a Wegman's Pumpernickel Bagel to enjoy in the car....
Upon arriving at the shore, we walked the Boardwalk. Here is a pic of some of the many many Gulls that hang out there. Very cute birds.
After checking into our hotel room, we went down to the food court for lunch. I got Mixed Greens with Carrots, Chickpeas, Mushrooms and Balsamic Vinaigrette from Lettuce Head...
Played blackjack for an hour and a half, lost $40 but enjoyed four 'free' Screwdrivers, so it all evened out. Met my mother for a 6pm dinner at Wolfgang Puck American Grille. Had yet another (much bigger) Screwdriver (they chose to use Absolut Vodka, guess that is their 'rail' vodka) $10...
Different kinds of Bread are offered, so I got Sourdough...
it wasn't the best bread I ever had, but I liked how they gave me a little dish of Olive Oil...
I had called 24-hours in advance to request a vegan meal, but they had no knowledge of it last night. The server asked the chef to come up with something. Grilled Eggplant, Squash, Peppers, Leeks, Fingerling Potatoes and Onions $18. It also came with White Rice. I'm sure I had the best meal of anyone in the restaurant...
Dessert was a very refreshing Berry Sorbet $9. Service and atmosphere were the best I've ever had/seen.
Here is the view from our room early this morning...
the Borgata hotel is not right on the beach, but it's so nice, it doesn't matter.
En route back home, we stopped by Reading Terminal Market. Below is Iovine Brothers Produce, where I bought Corn, tiny Brussels Sprouts and Little Tomatoes...
Then onto The Flying Monkey Bakery where I bought a Whoopie Pie, a Cupcake...
and a Chocolate Chip Cookie...
Next up, I ordered a Carrot Juice with Spinach and I'm not sure what else I ordered it was all quite overwhelming $4.15 at Four Seasons Juice Bar...
sucked that thing down in seconds flat.....
moved on to Jonathan Best, where I got a Wrap to go before hitting the highway...
heading south on 95, I saw a Safari Airstream at the Sunoco Station in Newark, Delaware.
Here's the produce I bought at Reading Terminal (also got a head of Brocoflower for .99 at OK Produce)...
Enjoyed my Reading Terminal Vegan Wrap when I got home...
Dinner was leftovers from the prior evening and Reading Terminal Corn...
My Flying Monkey Chocolate Chip Cookie (with Cupcake Frosting) for dessert. Soft with lots of Chocolate Chips, definitely should have stocked up on these.
I see everyone just kept right on blogging while I was offline. I'll catch up tomorrow.

Looks like a pretty nice time! The chef really came up with a lovely dish for you.

That bakery all sounds terrific and the gulls are adorable. I love watching them. I love that Airstream just as much! Looks like a newer one. Very nice!

So much great stuff packed into one post! Looks like you had a nice time! I'm sure the screwdrivers helped a little ;) That bagel is calling my name and the dish that the chef made for you looks incredible! I'd agree that you had the best meal in the place that night.

I'm jealous of your trip to Reading Terminal. I've heard that it is a really fun place to visit and it looks like you picked up some great stuff! The produce is gorgeous, I feel like I could have spent so much money there! The bakery treats look delicious and that cookie looks a little like a muffin top (mmm). How was the wrap, it looks fresh and yummy! Welcome back!

I eat the puffins dry, only, with my coffee. Buffers the acid from the coffee while i try to become human.

What a delicious trip!! Pumpernickle bagels are the best kind, and thats a good tofutti to bagel ratio there. And hahahaha, yes the "free" drinks are actually quite expensive!

I'm so glad your dinner was amazing, some of my best meals have been when i just left it up to the kitchen- i suspect they enjoy the creative challenge.
A long time ago i made it to reading terminal market but i don't remember a juice stand- sounds like the perfect screwdriver antidote. And such gorgeous veggies! The baby sprouts are my favorite, most likely just because they are cute....
The baked goodies all look so good there!!

I would really like to one day eat pumpernickel bagels and drink Screwdrivers with you. Losing $40 for the privilege would be worth it.

Hooray! You didn't leave us forever! We all kept bloggin' on to fill the void in our hearts. ;)

What a fantastic getaway! Beautiful view from the hotel, and so many delicious meals. I will definitely have to put Wolfgang Puck on my list of destinations, for the meal presentation alone!

The Flying Monkey has some seriously decadent desserts, I can totally tell that cookie was tasty.

I bet both Mr.SV and the furries missed you, and covered you with snuggles upon return!

Looks like you had such a fun time!

Your food looked delicious as always.
You've definitely mastered putting the right amount of cream cheese on the bagel.

That dinner looks really good!

And the market! Looks like you found a lot of vegan foods which is awesome!

Hey Now!!!!

RVs, wonder if your Airstream will be surreptitiously photographed by others as well?

Sarah, the Screwdrivers were the highlight of the trip. The Wrap was decent. Just so glad to be back at home with my babies.

Unknown, good grief! Dry Puffins sound worse than soaked-in-vegan-milk Puffins. Can't begin to imagine how you do it. I agree on the best meals being when you leave it up to the kitchen. The Smoothie cup says the Juice Stand has been in operation since 1987. Maybe you just missed it before. Easy to miss things there.

Hannah, if such an interaction between us ever occurred, I believe I would just stare at you in bewildered wonderment the entire time.

Ingrid, it is not yet my time to leave the blogosphere apparently. I so missed my fuzzies. I never want to leave them again.

VGG, I have such fond memories of my Bagel with Cream Cheese before heading out on the trip. Like a million years ago. I was pretty pleased with my finds at Reading Terminal, although it was an extremely vegan-unfriendly place overall.

I have no idea what that means but I'm going to interpret it as because, from my blog, you can tell I'm a little odd.
