Molly Katzen's 'Peruvian Purple Potato Soup' and Dawson's Market Cornbread for lunch...
While heating up my Soup for lunch, I lifted the kitchen screen window to take some pictures of the Nuthatches out back. We have mostly Finches, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Chickadees and Tuffies around here. I love the nasally little Nuthatch 'honk', so I focused on them today...
I was having to replace these $20 feeders at least monthly till Mr. SVegetarian suggested I bring in the feeder at night and then put it out again in the morning. Night visitors are not only destructive, sometimes the feeder would just be entirely gone in the morning, never to be seen again....
The Squirrels know how to unlatch the top, so I no longer bother with that unless it's raining or snowing. The below pic is entitled, "Oh just help yourself!"Dinner was carried out from The Randy Radish. Tonight was an 'Organic Gyro Wrap' $7 (with leftover Fries from a week and a half ago) Whole Wheat Wrap filled with Viana Gyro Meat substitute, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion and Tzatziki Sauce. This was my first Gyro, vegan or otherwise, so I can't say if it was anything like the real deal. I can say it was a humongous and full of faux meat and veggies and that is my kind of meal...
Baked Bliss for dessert. Mr. SVegetarian pulled off a piece before the pic. Extremely enjoyable, but I'm happy to say I'm still not addicted. I am able to resist the Cinnamon Bun.
I'm also happy to say I'm back on my roll of deliciousness. Everything was 100% superb today.

I've noticed that the best bird watching is in VA. My grandmother has several bird feeders, and the biggest one off the back porch goes through a lot of seed. Watching the birds interact is like watching television - you can lose track of time! The squirrels jump off the back porch roof and land on the feeder. Very amusing.
The wrap looks pretty amazing! I've never heard of Viana. No headache like with Beyond Meat?
Baked Bliss certainly looks blissful.
Yum!
I'm not sure if I could still post on the cheesecake because its all done but cheesecake is something I make pretty often so maybe a post in the future?
I've never had a gyro either! I usually just have falafel!
Gyros are so weird! Isn't that the mystery meat that's "carved" off a blog on a stick? Not sure I'd even want a vegan one, but I'm glad it was good. If you ever have the opportunity, give Cake Thieves' cinnamon buns a try; they may change your mind.
Whenever you visit Australia, you'll hae such a time delighting in our King Parrots, Cockatoos, Lorikeets, Crimson Rosellas, and Kookaburras.
What a fun way to wait for your soup to heat up! Very cool pictures of the birds and a great solution for the feeder problem. Definitely a great way to pass the time :)
Um holy crap that gyro wrap looks AMAZING!!!! I'm so jealous. I've heard of places in NY that have vegan gyros, I should get on that. And that cinnamon roll seriously does look like bliss.
Ha! No the waiter and I went our separate ways. Definitely not THOSE cravings... finding out twins run in my family was the best form of birth control I could ask for, ha! No kids for this gal.
Hey Now!!!!
Ingrid, your Grandmother's place sounds very relaxing. I hope you take her to Tavern 64 and LPQ when you come visit. No headache from the Viana, thankfully. Although the name was annoying -- 'Viana'.
VGG, if the Cheesecake was a success that you repeat, then hell yes! share with the class please!
Abby Bean, I never thought I'd eat a Gyro of any kind. Never felt deprived not having one. Thanks for the rec on Cake Thieves, but I don't see a site for them?
Hannah, I'm back on the line with Qantas as I type this!
Sarah, all I could think of was how I can't heat up homemade soup and photograph nature when I am stuck in the office. I've never heard of a vegan Gyro before this one. Twins wouldn't be so bad if you get a boy & girl -- two for the 'price' of one. The girl baby might turn out like Delilah.
A really great day all around! I never had a gyro until after I went vegan, too. I really liked the one I had, though.
Love the bird pics & the squirrel. You really have a lot of seed out there!
