Sunday, March 25th

We left home at 10am this morningto drive an hour south for lunch, so no breakfast. The Chili $4.50 at Black Bear Bistro was the best I've ever had in my life. Bar None. Mr. SV agreed it was the best he's ever had in his life as well.
My Shepherds Pie topped with House Chips and Vegan Cheese – $9.95 Is that a House Chip in my Shepherds Pie or is it just happy to see me?
Mr. SV had the Sloppy Joe $7.95. Superb! A fantastic meal was had by all. The restaurant is planning to add more vegan and raw food items to the menu, so prepare to see more from this great establishment in the future.
Half a piece of Sweet and Natural Blueberry Lemon Cake for dessert.
Ingrid suggested I try spicing up the blog with critter pics, so I spent a half hour in the barn this afternoon trying to accomplish this task. Below is Marmalade Umlaut before she ran to hide...
This is Buttercup. She had a litter of kittens and then her human family kept the kittens and turned her into the local shelter cuz she wasn't friendly enough. She has been in our barn a couple years and I find her to be just the right amount of friendly. Just don't touch her head.
Here is Buttercup looking out the screen window at the beautiful spring day.
Of course, Donovan was most cooperative in posing. He's becoming a such a huge boy. So gentle and loving. I couldn't get Jasper or Mystique to come out of hiding. Once they hear the camera, they get scared (like me) and disappear.
Yesterday I enjoyed the best Bread I've ever had in my life and today I enjoyed the best Chili I've ever had in my life. If only this weekend didn't have to end.

So many critters! A bear on a plate AND three sweet kitts. Bummer about Buttercup's family though. I wonder how the kittens fared.
Very interesting Shepherd's Pie idea...

The bistro food looks good! I wish I could try some of that chili...if it's the best you ever had, it must be good. I haven't eaten chili in ages, since Mr Dandelion informed me that he doesn't like chili...something about the kidney beans and tomato combo he doesn't like: what a weirdo!

Anyway, all the kitties are cute as ever; they all look happy and well loved and cared for. I'm sure they're happy with you.

The kitties are so beautiful! I've said it before and I'll say it again I think it is really amazing of you to care for all of them. Such a good mom :)

All of the food looks great! I'm glad that you both really enjoyed the restaurant! I think your rice and beans look really yummy and you know I'm a big fan of the blueberry lemon combo. That cake look so good and the frosting is so pretty!

Sounds like you had some pretty great meals this weekend!

Woo hoo! I appreciate your efforts tremendously, and the animals did not disappoint! Sad story about Buttercup, I'm glad she found you. Does Mama Umlaut still allow petting? Donovan is absolutely gorgeous!

I was in Warrenton last July when I convinced grandma to go with me to Skyline Drive. Black Bear Bistro is officially earmarked in case that drive ever happens again. The food looks very rich and filling! Yum

Hey Now!!!!

FF, oh great, now you got me worried about Buttercup's kittens. Thanks a lot!

Rose, our spouses and their likes and dislikes! I'm sure if you made a hearty pot of Chili, Mr. Dandelion would eat it (begrudgingly of course).

VaVa, the frosting on the cake did look pretty! I think cuz they turned the box over to scan it at the grocery store. That made little peaks in the frosting.

Ingrid, it wasn't easy getting these kitty pics. I am glad you appreciate it. People do like Skyline Drive (Mr. SV included). Wish I could recommend Virginia as a destination, but I'm not much of a fan.

Molly, I have another Tuxedo Cat in the house as well. They have such a goofball quality.

That bread and olive oil you posted on Saturday indeed looked fabulous.

OMG, I love the kitty pics. I think Marmalade Umlaut is my favorite. It's great that you are giving a home to so many of these creatures. Keep the animal pictures coming please.
