Cheese Is Better When Fake

Lunch was Broccoli and Sun-Dried Tomato Fusili from California Pizza Kitchen. As you can see from the picture, someone hocked a loogie in the middle of my pasta. Not really, but I think I would've preferred that to the splat of parmesan cheese that was there instead. The internal conflict and confusion I had while eating this dish barred me from any enjoyment.. I requested for 'NO CHEESE'. They added cheese. I ate the cheese solely to prevent drawing any attention to myself and to be congenial and went on to feel like a huge fraud and failure. I'm still wrestling with the situation.
I managed to persevere and carry on at dinner time. Two Boca Chick'n Patties with Tomatoes and Tofutti Singles. Roasted Cauliflower with Goddess Dressing on the side.
I'm not going to let today's set back get me down. Being vegan is one of the best things in my life.

If it helps, I occasionally lapse from my goal of an exclusive vegan diet, but your blog consistently reminds me how delicious vegan food can be. It's an inspiration.

Stacy, thanks for your kind words. That's all this blog is about is to let others know that they're not alone in this endeavor (it's hard sometimes when you feel like you're the only vegan in the area) and to share some food ideas.

Nora, It was really a strange situation with the food having been carried out quite far from the restaurant. Looking back, there was no way around it without causing a scene.

Michelle, I've been vegan for I believe three years. I was vegan about a year before starting this blog and I started the blog just because other vegan bloggers helped me get back into veganism from vegetarianism. I had given up being vegan about ten years ago just cause of hassles like the one yesterday.

it's very frustrating when you order something specifically and it doesn't come that way...boooooo on california pizza kitchen.

it's great to have a community of bloggers and i definitely say that the wonderful blogs i viewed convinced me that going vegan was awesome.

i still agree almost 2 years later and i laugh when people don't get why i am vegan. i agree with you, it's one of the best things about my life.
