Chili, Salad and Chickpea Cutlets

On Tuesdays and Fridays, Harris Teeter has Veggie Chili on their soup bar. Today I got a pint along with a Salad. Pretty decent Chili, sort of like thick Tomato Soup with a bunch of random beans and veggies tossed in. Mildly spicy.Dinner was Chickpea Cutlets with a Baked Sweet Potato and Curry Sauce.

Toscana Grill, Arlington

Lunch today was at... you guessed it!
We ordered Bruschetta right when we sat down -- before we found out that complimentary bread came with the meal......so we asked for the "Artichoke Tostini" we ordered to be wrapped up to go. However, when we saw the aforementioned appetizer, we couldn't resist and just ate that too...Big fat Artichokes and Pesto on thinly sliced toast...Beautifully presented and delicious.
Mr. SV, aka The Mushroom Hater, ordered Mushroom Rice Soup (because as much as he hates Mushrooms, that's how much he loves Rice). He loved the soup, especially the Mushrooms, and told me that I could try to recreate it at home if I wanted. Gee, thanks!I ordered Linguini with Vegan Alfredo Sauce, Mushrooms, Artichokes and Vegan Chicken. It was just what I wanted -- deeply filling and delicious. I took home half for dinner and the leftovers stood the test of time. Washed down with 750 ML of the good stuff: Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon.
Every aspect of the meal was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was clean and cozy, and the food was high quality. Unless we were just lucky today, Arlington residents have a real gem in their neighborhood. Fortunately, Toscana was quite busy today. I hope they stay that way so we can return.

Ravioli Love

In my 'pregan' days, I practically lived on Celentano Frozen Ravioli and Prego. A little while ago, Abby brought my attention to these... Tonight I had a package of the Spinach Florentine variety topped with TJ's Arrabiatta Sauce and Morningstar Farms Crumbles. Quick and delicious, a perfect cruelty-free alternative!
Washed down with 750 ML of the good stuff: Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon.

Back to the Grind

Breakfast was a Banana with a tablespoon or two of TJ's Valencia Peanut Butter...
Lunch was a Salad from WF's Salad Bar with Toasted Soy Nuts and Balsamic Vinaigrette...

Then a little bit of a Theo Chocolate Bar. This is my current favorite chocolate. It's not cheap, but is satisfying and elegant. Dinner was Celebration Field Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Road's End Organic Herb Gravy.

Washed down with a bottle of Charles Shaw 2008 Shiraz.

Still At Home

Maybe I'll try venturing out on our road tomorrow. Mr. SV said the county put gravel on top of the ice. Sounds great Anyways, breakfast was Cinnamon Puffins with plain Silk Soymilk... Mr. SV graciously brought in lunch today from Tropical Smoothie Cafe . I got the "Mediterranean Veggie Grilled Flatbread" - Hummus, Banana Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Cilantro-Lime(?), Field Greens and Balsamic Vinaigrette on - you guessed it! - Grilled Flatbread. Don't ask what all those black specks are, I just ate them. Hope my sandwich wasn't a victim of the 'five second rule'. "Acai Berry Boost" Smoothie for dessert. Dinner was Vegan Steak w/A1 and Roasted Cauliflower washed down with a bottle of Simi Valley 2005 Merlot. My wine rack is going to be empty if I don't get to a store soon...but then I'd have to brush my teeth and take a shower...decisions decisions...

Washed down with a bottle of Columbia Crest 2005 Merlot.I've always figured these Vegan Steaks were full of melamine, but tonight I looked at the ingredient list and they're actually from Taiwan and appear to be okay. This is the ingredient list: Non-GMO Textured Soybean Protein, Wheat Protein Concentrate, Wheat Fiber, Carrageenan, White Pepper, Sea Salt, Brown Sugar, Soybean Oil, Natural Vegetarian Seasoning and Mushroom Fiber.

The Calm Before 'The Storm' (of the century)

We woke up this morning to breakfast at The Hillbrook Inn . Any breakfast item we could think of was possible (not cuz we're special, that's just how it is there). We started with Fresh Fruit and Juice...I could've had Tofu Scramble, but opted for Oatmeal with Raisins. It was excellent.
Lunch was off the Asian Wokery Bar at Wegmans. Kung Pao Tofu and Steamed Veggies...
Dinner was Sheese on Bread...Smearing the Sheese on the Bread wasn't the prettiest but it tasted good. We're supposed to be snowed in tomorrow, so lots of comfort food to come...

Mega Post

We hadn't been to The Mediterranean Cafe for several weeks. Since our last visit, they've really spruced up the place. We started with the complimentary Pita and Herbed Olive Oil... I had the Veggie Kabob Sandwich with double Hummus $6.99. So pretty I posted two pics!
Fresh, colorful vegetables in down town Charles Town! Whodathunkit?! Now that table games have been approved at Charles Town Raceway, we'll probably be seeing lots of new things in West Virginia.
Mr. SV had his usual Mediterranean Pasta...
Dinner was at The Hillbrook Inn, where the chef, Christine Hale, cooks up some tasty and healthy fare. We snacked on these Curried Almonds in the living room/hearth area while waiting for our 8pm dinner to begin...
Longingly looking at our table from the living room... it was tough waiting till 8pm to eat dinner...
The first course was Mushrooms on Bruschetta...
followed by Tomato Soup with Dill...
Penne with Toasted Pine Nuts...
Roasted Red Pepper stuffed with a mixture of Tofu and Vegetables. On the side -- Asparagus, Broccoli, Grilled Red Pepper and Rice...
Mixed Field Greens with Lime Vinaigrette...
Follow Your Heart Cheddar w/Carr's Crackers and Grapes. FYH has really improved their product. Chef Hale had to show me the package because I couldn't believe how tasty it was.Grilled Fresh Pineapple for dessert...Phew! A great meal that included all you can drink vino. The only negative (which I wasn't even aware of at the time) was the man at the next table giving me the stink eye whenever I took pics. Fortunately, I couldn't see him, Mr. SV told me about it later.
