Seitan Sunday

Lunch today was Celebration Field Roast with Mashed Potatoes and WF's Wild Mushroom Gravy.Dinner was TJ's Chickenless Chick'n with Stove Top Stuffing (contains HFCS, but so easy and good, stuffing made w/Veggie Stock and Earth Balance) and WF's Wild Mushroom Gravy. To me, something about Sundays mean making stockpiles of Seitan. Even though it was gorgeous outside today, I made a batch of Alicia's Cutlets (had some sticking issues today, so they look more like oatmeal cookies) and a batch of Chickpea Cutlets ...So many faux meats, so little time.

Seitan Sunday. I like the sound of it.

The weather was beautiful today you should have been outside enjoying it. I was stuck inside with Christmas decorations, but had the windows open (maybe for the last time).

That is the first time the cutlets stuck on you, isn't it? Any idea what happened? They haven't done that to me. Maybe the next time it happens you could try adding a little water to encourage them to let loose from the pan. I hope that helps.

I think they stuck cuz I misread the recipe and added 2.5 cups of water instead of 2.25. So they stuck to the frying pan not the roasting pan. The bits that fell off during the whole process still tasted great.

That makes sense if they were too "gooey" that could cause them to stick to the frying pan. If that happens again I would add either oil or water to loosen them, either should work. Also, I use a well seasoned cast iron pan when I cook mine and that may be why mine don't stick.

talk to you soon,

I've been eating Field Roast leftovers all weekend! I finally finished it off last night, but I still wish I had more...love that stuff!
