Wednesday, October 9th

A 'Chia Pudding Parfait' $5.95 from Le Pain Quotidien for breakfast. Really enjoyable, but now I don't see it listed on their website. I hope they didn't decide to stop offering it now that I've finally tried it and want more.
A 'Harvest Vegetable Sandwich' $5.99 Hummus, Tomato, Lettuce, Red Onion, Carrots, Tomatoes, Avocado and Asparagus...
with Adobo Black Bean Soup $3.99 for lunch...
later more of that ancient Theo Mint Bar that I keep in my desk (for which there is no Schmeanut Butter to liven it up with)...
more Whole Foods action at dinner: 'Sesame Grilled Tofu' and 'Green Garbanzo Succotash'. That's right, those are GREEN Garbanzo Beans, not Peas or Limas, in my Succotash..
Finally, Halloween Spice Drops from Whole Foods. These were better than the WF's Gum Drops, but not as good as the cheap trashy stuff from the drugstore.
So it wasn't as dull a day as one would expect of someone sitting in a cube all day, however, I'm so glad to be going back to WFH grub tomorrow.

Re: work - it was a last minute coverage... my boss had a baby over the weekend (OMG he's soooooooo cute!!) and they got home much later than they expected so I said I'd cover and close. I can be nice once in a while ;)

The chia pudding looks AMAZING!!! Definitely a great breakfast option followed by a really yummy looking sandwich for lunch! Green garbanzos?! How fancy ;) Oooh do the black gum drops taste like licorice? I don't feel good about licorice flavored anything but sign me up for the fruity ones!

Whoa, a very adventurous food day. Was that yr first time eating chia pudding?? It looks really creamy. Was it blended with coconut or something?
Asparagus on a sandwich isn't something I've seen but sounds like something I could "get down with."
Fancy garbanzos. Are they just fresh to be green and not dried?
I have been desserting on Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish recently so my teeth feel yr teeth's pain.
There, now I think I commented on every meal.

Nice work LPQ, hopefully it sticks around! Why do they always keep the stuff we don't like?!

I'm afraid to say it aloud: I think I'm entering a phase of boredom with the Whole Foods hot bar. *gasp* Last few visits have been mediocre.

Whoah-whaaaattt?!?! Chia pudding at LPQ??? That's blowing my mind right now...... So glad it was yummy too! I will be looking at my location for that asap. Nice soup and sandwich combo, a nice filling to bread ratio there. Do they have multiple soup options and this is your favorite? Or is it the only vegan choice?
Fancy dinner there- the green garbanzos are actually fresh ones, they're a serious pain in the a$$ to prepare since each bean is in a little papery skin and they can be expensive- did they taste much better than the regular canned ones?
For gummy candies i always buy haribo ones, don't think they make gumdrops though.

Amazing food!!

that chia pudding looks amazing! I've never had chia pudding! It just seems like it would be chewy.

I have to see if my WF has those gum drops!

My WF has been offering rotating vegan made-to-order sammies and they seem alright. Although skip the hot ones: for the General Tso's hoagie they dropped tepid seitan into boiling hot sauce with who knows what floating in it?

Even I will admit that schmeanut butter wouldn't go very well with mint chocolate.

Lucky for you, there are approximately 437,562 recipes for chia pudding on the internetz.

I had no idea that garbanzo beans came in green, too. Did they taste the same? And what was in the parfait other than chia seeds? It looks fantastic.

I've finally started eating chia seeds - in a cereal I bought that I have to rehydrate with milk. So good. So, I would actually try that parfait now. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that they still offer it. I hate when a restaurant or a menu item that we love is gone or changed.

Hey Now!!!

Sarah, well, since the boss gave you that nice juicer, I guess you can help him out in a pinch;-) I usually like the fruit gum drops better than Licorice as well, but the one Orange flavor did get a little repetitive.

FF, this is my first 'bought' Chia Pudding. I used to make Chia Pudding myself a few years ago, but for some reason, it stopped firming up and I quit. I think LPQ used Almond Milk. According to Unknown, the Green Garbanzos are the fresh ones. Did you ever yank that infected tooth?

Ingrid, isn't it weird when we get bored with WF's?! Sometimes I wander around the prepared foods section like a zombie cuz I am so sick of it all.

Unknown, I always get the Adobo Black Bean Soup cuz of the eight soups on the bar, it's usually the only one that's vegan. Still a pretty decent choice. Thanks for the info on the Green Garbanzos. I saw the Haribo Gummies but I'm not a fan of those and don't want to get hooked (enough goodies to resist as it is).

VGG, Chia Pudding is more like Tapioca Pudding. Not even as chewy as Rice Pudding.

Abby Bean, also gotta watch the knife they use to cut the sammie isn't the same one they just used on the meat sandwiches.

Hannah, as I told FF, I used to do make Chia Pudding, but for some reason, it eventually stopped getting firm overnight, was still liquidy in the morning, so I just gave up.

RVs, I had no idea about Green Garbanzos either, but they tasted just like the Beige. Just like the Blue Potatoes tasted just like the Beige. There was a nice Raspberry Sauce on top of the Chia Pudding. Sure hope I get it again.

Blessed Mama, Chia Pudding Parfaits could certainly be made in bulk. Easy to feed five hungry vegans.
