Sunday, October 27th

Breakfast was at Le Pain Quotidien. 'Tofu Scrambler' $9.95 with a side of Avocado $3.95. They were mobbed and we had to sit at one of the Communal Tables, which I still feel uptight about, but service and food were excellent.
A carryout 'Vegan Kale Caesar' $13.25 for lunch. Curly Kale, Organic Tofu, Organic Carrots, Gomasio and Miso-Lapsang Dressing served with Organic Bread (aka Croutons). I liked all the Croutons and that it took almost a half an hour to finish, but it's no where near as great as the 'Organic Lentil and Avocado Salad'. 'Gomasio', rich in calcium and iron, is Sesame Salt made of toasted Sesame Seeds and Sea Salt. 'Lapsang' is a smokey Chinese Tea.
The rest of 'Celeriac Soup ' $4 from The Randy Radish for dinner. At this rate, I might have to change the name of the blog to 'The Shenandoah Gourmet'.
Also, from The Randy Radish, 'Thumbprint Cookies' $4 for dessert...
A great food weekend. So sad it's over.

Haha The Shenandoah Gourmet indeed! I am so impressed that you did the communal table. I feel like I'd have a heart attack or an anxiety attack at the very least. The tofu scramble looks amazing as always and avocado makes even the most delicious meal even better. The salad sounds great! Kale salads do take forever to eat. The soup is just as beautiful today and hooray for cookies!!

The Shenandoah Vegan Gourmet, I think you mean. Unless that pasta really has caused you to throw in the towel... but somehow I doubt it.

I've never eaten at the communal table. I don't like eating so close to strangers and having to listen to their conversations.

The tofu scramble looks so good. I didn't make it to LPQ this weekend as I hoped. I'm gonna try for next weekend.
I'm curious about the kale salad but I might just stick with the tofu scramble.

I love making thumbprint cookies and those ones look delicious.

Gourmet indeed. I love everything in this post.

We sat at a communal table once and I hated it. It was so uncomfortable.

It has been a fantastic food weekend! Let's not go to work tomorrow, and have it be forever a weekend! :)

Are those wedges of tofu or bread? LPQ does both breakfast and lunch right. Minus the communal table. We have a few restaurants like that. If I'm with someone that I haven't caught up with in a long time, I find them annoying.

A creamy looking soup needs to enter my life soon.

Seriously?!? Back to back four star days?? (((Clapping)))
LPQ has a high opinion of their avocado...$4 is a bit dear although i'm sure it was great with the 'fu scramble. And although i like the "idea" of communal tables lets just call it like it is- restaurants trying to seat more people in less space.
Lunch salad looks great, sounds like they took some creative license with it. Glad to see Randy had dinner figured out for you, and the herb oil secret messages are fun

Ps
I love that you replied to FF's kitty!! Ha!

Very impressive AND informative lunch! That salad sounds so amazing. I've never actually had either gomasio or lapsang, although I hear the tea is wonderful. Croutons hurt my mouth though. maybe that's why you went so slowly?
I always wonder how they keep track of people and their orders at communal tables. Obviously I am not cut out for food service.
And Haxan much appreciates the reply.

Hold the phone; you paid $3.95 for half an avocado? I couldn't have done it. As for the tea, don't you know I was looking all over for Lapsong Souchong tea for a recipe when my English boss suddenly told me that "everyone in England" drinks it & she'd bring me some. Who knew.

Did any of the others at the communal table wonder why you snapped a pic of your breakfast?

Hey Now!!!!

Sarah, I was surprised that having Mr. SV with me did not make me feel more at ease at the Communal Table. He didn't seem to have any issues with it though. I should ask him what he thought about it. I think he'd say he hated the whole thing, communal table or not.

Hannah, ugh! That Pasta. I'm still recovering. Phooey! So sick of dining weekly at these corporate chains, but my mother likes them.

VGG, I prefer to be at a distance from other diners as well. I can casually observe and/or judge them from a comfortable distance. The Tofu Scramble is very delicious and reliable. I'd go with that. As you see I do.

RVs, I want to embrace the Communal Table, but feel that maybe I'm just not evolved enough. Does anyone enjoy it?

Ingrid, the big white wedges are Tofu. I do so hope you get to go to LPQ soon. They do all three meals. Alcohol is served too! I'm sure Denver is next on their list for expansion.

Unknown, are you sure that what the Communal Table is all about? I think it's supposed to bring European sophistication to us peasants. Haxan and I are working to get an air conditioner for FF on layaway. Don't tell!

FF, never got that tooth fixed eh? I went slowly on the Salad cuz of chewing all that Kale. I always wonder the same thing at LPQ as well: how do they keep track of who just sat down? I watch people come in and sit down at the long table and the servers never fail to pick up on it. Could there be hidden cameras?

Abby Bean, in LPQ's defense, they do 'butterfly' the Avocado before serving on a little plate with a sprig of Parsley. Yesterday, was my first time even seeing the words 'Lapsong' or 'Souchong'. Maybe it's the new 'Chai'?

Blessed Mama, the couple next to us eating ham & cheese sandwiches may have wondered about my photo session, but I didn't want to make eye contact.
