Saturday, October 19th

Breakfast was at Harrimans Grill, located inside the Salamander Spa/Resort in Middleburg. I had the 'Tofu Scramble' $12 Vine-Ripened Tomatoes, Green Onions, Tempeh Bacon and Roasted Potatoes. The Scramble was superior in taste to the Scrambles at both Tavern 64 and LPQ, plus the atmosphere is more sedate. (Disclaimer: I did not verify that my Tofu Scramble was vegan)....

Tiny jellies on every table made me happy...
Mr. SVegetarian generously gave me the bread that came with his Veggie Omelet so I could do the blob thing with a tiny jelly...
'Sheila's Favorite Vegan Bittersweet Chocolate Croissant' $5. I had to wrap these up to go because I just too stuffed to enjoy them after all the other food...
A view of the stable (it's an area for equestrian enthusiasts) from our table...
After breakfast, we strolled around the grounds. Below is what the restaurant looks like from outside. Could use some more landscaping, IMO. Looks more like a Conference Center than a Spa/Resort...
Later in the day, we were near the The Common Market, so I picked up a Tofurky Reuben $6.59 for dinner..
and a Really Big Salad With Lots Of Stuff In It for dessert...
My last Moscow Mule tonight, unless I can get to Wegman's to pick up more Crabbies...
I doubt tomorrow will be half as exciting as today, but check back in anyway, just in case.

Did you see any horses on the grounds??
LOVE the tiny jellies!!! my parents used to travel a lot and would bring me back tiny jars of honey and jams from the plane flights. I like that you are continuing the jelly blob shot.
Also, chocolate croissants?? So great. Did you try them yet, or just take a photo? Eat them soon before they get stale!!

CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS?!?!?! I WANT!!!! Those look amazing, I can't wait to see what you think of them! On the same note, breakfast looks incredible. I'm impressed with the rave review. Is there a faux sausage in the distance as well? How was it? I also like your jelly blob theme/series. A year or two ago I worked a wedding where they gave little jars of blueberry jam as the favor and I kept prowling around to see if there were any unclaimed ones to take home and sadly there weren't.

Dinner looks very delicious too and I'm also impressed by the dessert salad ;) Looks like a really great day!!

I'm with everyone here when I say that today is awesome, and holy chocolate croissant! I can't wait for you to have one!

I looked at their menu and it seems like you are in the clear with the tofu scramble. Gorgeous potatoes.

It looks like such a lush place; I'm always amazed at how green places can be in the fall months.

Do they use Tofurky slices on the sandwich?

Unrelated, I saw the Field Roast En Croute pop up in the store today. . .

that scramble looks devine and nice job on the salad! it looks pretty delicious!

I can't believe you could hold out on the chocolate croissants. I would've tried some before my scramble! I have never had a chocolate croissant!

That's a very high tofu scramble rating! And it looks amazing- is the tempeh bacon at the top of the plate? Looks more like sausage....? Really sweet mr SV shared his toast- that's true love! :) i agree with you that their ground could use something more interesting than lawn.
Your dessert salad looks so colorful and like a great veggie assortment-and the sandwich pic makes me want one! And i never crave rubens!
If you can find reed's ginger beer that's great in the mule, and there are a few fancy soda companies making versions as well. My blood orange margarita was a happy hour special, i think it was just the juice with tequila, needed some lemon or lime in it. My friend raved about her spicy margarita (jalapeno with cilantro and the classic lemony lime) but it nearly burned off my taste buds!

Little blasé about the double chocolate croissants, no? I mean, DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS!!

What is it about tiny things? I too love those little jellies (so far superior to those awful diner packets) and- even more so, the mini ketchup jars.

Such a great day! The scramble looks perfect and those croissants are just crazy. I'm extremely jealous!

I think it's great that restaurants offer little jars of jelly like that. I've never seen that here.

Hey Now!!!!

Hannah, it's not easy having these best days. Quite draining in fact.

FF, we saw about group of guests riding horses down a path, but I didn't see any horses just milling about unattended. My parents used to bring me the shampoo/conditioner/soap from their hotel stays. Does that mean my parents ate the little jellies, but didn't wash when traveling? Methinks I'm gonna be eating some stale Croissants at this rate.

Sarah, yes, it's Tempeh Sausage (called 'Bacon') (hopefully vegan) in the background. Homemade preserves are always an excellent gift item. I am sorry you couldn't snatch any from the wedding. You sure had a lot of memories from photographing all those weddings.

Ingrid, yes, there are Tofurky Slices in the Reuben, but I still don't know how they make it so delicious. Quite mysterious. I've been scouring freezer sections for the Field Roast En Croute. Perhaps the 'En Croute' is 'En Route' east. Maybe it will be here by next week! I'm very ready.

VGG, I've had Chocolate Croissants in my pregan days, but always preferred the big huge plain ones. I'm sure you've had those? Sure wish I could find those around here. I feel they're on the horizon though since they've been spotted elsewhere around the country...

Unknown, interesting that they called it Tempeh Bacon when it looks like Sausage. Now you have me concerned, I totally didn't pick up on that discrepancy. It sure didn't taste like meat though. I'll try to reassure myself with that. Plus, they misspelled Tempeh on the menu, so maybe they meant Sausage but wrote Bacon. Anyway, a Blood Orange Margarita sounds unique, I'll research that one.

Abby Bean, even though I've been longing for vegan Croissants for years, I still haven't yet tasted these Chocolate Croissants. They're probably going to be too stale by the time I get to them, but I'll take that into account. I also enjoy feeling really strong 'popping' open the tiny jars of jelly.

RVs, yeah, right, like I have any grub here in Virginia that can hold a candle to that grub you got out in Wisconsin. Sheesh! That Tres Leche Cake! Palomino Cafe!

The salad and croissant are both making me extremely hungry.

And, yay tiny jellies! Like IHOP and their variety of syrups, only...not IHOP. :)

Sara,

I'm sure Jackson & Olivia would be thrilled with these little jars of jelly.
