Steel Cut Oats with Raisins for breakfast. The Oats were originally intended solely as a vehicle for TJ's Cranberry Apple Butter per FF's rec. At the last minute, I opted for Raisins. Fascinating, my life is.
Gardein BBQ Pulled Shreds for lunch. The BBQ Sauce is too sweet and bland for my tastes. Won't buy again.
Field Roast Celebration Roast and Brussel Sprouts for dinner.
In other news, I'm apparently turning away from the Vodka and back toward the Red Wine. Specifically, a screw top bottle of: Angeline Merlot from Sonoma County tonight. So speaking of not eating dessert, Miss Rachel has pointed out something new on my horizon: Biscoff Spread. Apparently, it is like Speculoos but without that feeling of being probed. Now that I'm back on the vino, I may just have to start calling her "Rachel". Ergo, this paragraph flows like my mindset from six months ago.

Sometimes I find that hard liquor lends an unpleasant buzz so I understand going back to the vino. Too sweet BBQ w/o heat to balance is unpleasant.
Also, WRT your reply from yest, I appreciate a depressive temperament so maybe don't try too hard to shrug it off, unless you really want to.
Your oats look great. I should try a more minimalist approach from time to time. BUT I also had Brussels Sprouts! We really are the same person. Kinda.
I am always riveted by oats so I'm glad you shared that story :) I had the same experience with the pulled bbq shreds when I tried them way back in the day. I found the sauce inedibly sweet. Ick. Your brussels look so yummy though! I have never been a wine person but have recently been trying out some sweet moscatos that I like. baby steps.
PS. the word I got for verification is "commies"
You're getting' kinda familiar aren't ya - calling me just Rachel hmm? Ha ha. You know, my brother & sister actually call me Rae. Anyway good tip on the pulled pork (that sounds dirty!) although I have enjoyed other Gardein products, especially the beef less tips.
Happy Winter to you!
I've been particularly taken with baked oatmeal as of late, a variety of items making it into each single portion.
Winter is definitely red-wine-drinking season, although I'm working on some rice nog and spiced rum most evenings (hooray for vacation!).
Nice bowl of oatmeal! I love the look of those sprouts too; I haven't eaten many yet this season, must get some more soon. I've been trying to stick to lite beer of late (for waistline considerations) but, I usually break down and have some vino too.
What is it about oatmeal and raisins that's so tasty? That's one of my favorite ways to eat oatmeal.
Thanks for the heads up on that BBQ!
That biscoff spread sounds like it would be yummy.
We're giving Whole Foods another chance on Saturday, so I'm going to have to look for that apple butter. It sounds great for oatmeal, but raisins are also so good!
I've seen that biscoff spread somewhere before, but can't for the life of me remember where....
Hey Now!!!!
Stacy, I'll just admit it: I built up my tolerance to the Vodka. Had to go back to the vino in hopes my body wouldn't recognize it. Which it sort of didn't.
FF, minimalist? It wouldn't be a bowl of FF food if there weren't 30 different items all piled on top of each other and ten swirled around. I've also been meaning to say, your avatar is like looking in a mirror for me.
VaVa, I'd had the BBQ Gardein last year and forgot how bad it was. Such a wasted meal. Sorry you had to type in 'Commies'. At least we won that war.
Miss Rachel, I'll call you 'Miss Jackson' if you're nasty.
Ingrid, I have seen the Baked Oatmeal, but haven't tried it yet. Maybe when I get snowed in this winter.
Rose, you made the "Sprouts Dish Extraordinaire" with Roasted Apples and Pom Arils. I think that was enough for one season.
Michelle2, let's hear it for the Oatmeal Purists. Enough with this loading it up with candy and other snacks.
Molly, you are really gonna be disappointed in WF's on Saturday. Not only is it the day before Christmas (packed with annoying families), but the Cranberry Apple Butter is from Trader Joe's. Check your inventory for the Biscoff Spread.
Oh dear, we have a generation gap. What does that mean? Is it a song? There was another time you said something and I Googled it and found out it was a Kanye West song.
(And I know, I know... my age is not a reason not to know current music, but I pretty much shut off in 1990, and I have been unimpressed with what has managed to get through to me since then.)
Ack! Well, there's a Trader Joe's, but I've only tried going in there once before & immediately walked out. It was *way* too crowded for me.
I'm about 99% positive that we don't carry biscoff spread in the warehouse, but I'm going to do a search on Monday. That would be cool if we do!
