WTF Monday

Banana, Spirulina, two Dates, a heaping TBSP of PB, Hemp Milk and Hemp Protein Powder for breakfast...
An Oven Roasted Tofurky Sandwich with Roots Market Cole Slaw for lunch...
A ton of Indian Okra & Potatoes off the WF's Hot Bar for dinner. This is one of those meals that is difficult for me to post on the blog because it was so unpleasant eating it. Too spicy. Too much Okra. Ate it all anyway cuz that is how I was raised...
So Delicious Mocha Fudge for dessert. No unpleasantness here...
Bye for now.

SUch a bummer about the dinner. I love spicy food but too much spice is a total palate killer. Have you ever gotten the spice buzz? I have and it was pretty funny actually. Anyway, I'm surprised that WFs would have something so spicy at the hot bar... usually places tend to tone it down a little to fit more tastes... that's why catering hall food is so bland for weddings ;)

Looks like you cooled the flame with some tasty ice cream though. The fudge looks so thick and yummy in there. The sandwich for lunch looks great too!

Whereas in my case, I can't get behind okra. Growing up my mother would make fried okra for my dad, and I remember peeling off the breading (too greasy) and discovering the slimy texture of okra. Nope. Not happening. So for my sake, and yours, don't eat this again. ;)

I absolutely love your WTF Mondays! We were just talking about making okra the other day, I have issue with it as well, I just cannot do the texture. The tofurky sandwhich looks delicious!

Aside from the obvious banana issue your breakfast smoothie sounds awesome!! I make a similar one with spinach and frozen blueberries.
The coleslaw on the sandwich is totally brilliant- veggie and condiment in one! And the hypnotizing bread too.
Shame on WF. They should have a delicious guarantee of some sort with anything off the salad bar or hot bar-that stuff ain't cheap.
I'm sure you can get a decent papaya salad. They make them to order so just say vegetarian no fish sauce (or allergic to shellfish) a few times if they don't list a vegetarian/vegan option. Good stuff.

I really love the sound of yr smoothie! How much spirulina do you put in? And what brand Hemp protein powder?
The sandwich looks totally crazy, I couldn't figure out which part was the coleslaw at first. Is that purple cabbage in there?
Too bad about the WF hot dinner... I only recently started eating okra and I really like it. Sounds like it could be done well, maybe not in that instance.

I am so over So Delicious; Lula's has spoiled me forever. Also, too spicy? Is that even possible?

Hey Now!!!!

Sarah, the spice buzz? You mean like get inebriated from spices? No, I've never heard of that.

Ingrid, that sounds like a traumatic childhood experience. Apparently, fresh Okra is not supposed to be slimy. So they say.

VW, I agree, the Okra texture is no more inviting than the taste. At least the Okra flower is pretty.

Unknown, guess the Purple Cabbage dyed the Cole Slaw Dressing purple too. It's rare that WFs makes something so bad, so maybe it was a disgruntled chef in the kitchen. Peeeuuu! It was bad stuff. Next time I do Thai, I'll see if I'm feeling adventurous enuf to try that Salad.

FF, I use almost a tablespoon of Spirulina, what about you? I'm guessing the Hemp Protein Powder is Manitba brand, but I'm too lazy to get up to go look. Yep, Purple Cabbage Cole Slaw. How was your Okra prepared? I really want to like it.

Abby, we don't have any vegan ice cream parlors in the DC area, and the few restaurants that do serve vegan ice cream, serve So Delicious. I guess I should also be grateful that the spiciness of the Okra dish helped mask the taste.
