Sunday, May 20th

Breakfast was Hummus on a Pumpernickle Bagel from City Bagel...
Gardein Crispy Tenders and Heinz-57 for lunch at home.
Blessed Mama's Maple Glazed Seitan Roast with HP Sauce and Baked Potato for dinner...I intended to have dessert, but then was fine without. Another intention: Fuzzy critter pics, but instead I went with feathered critter pics.... See there were these two chicks....Bought yesterday for $3 each at a Chicken Swap at Gowers Feed.... After purchasing the above chicks, the seller asked me if I wanted a chick with a broken leg for free. Currently named 'Chicky' cuz we don't know if it is a he or a she and 'Chicky' sounds like a gender-neutral name. Here is Chicky in a shoebox at the vet this afternoon.

$58 later, Chicky now has a cast on his/her leg and must remain separated and on soft bedding till his/her follow-up appointment next week.
Coming up tomorrow: Another third of my Cherry Danish for breakfast. Hopefully, Kobe Grill will be finished with their 'maintenance' and I can get some good Asian grub for lunch.

That breakfast bagel looks perfect! It's nice to see other people sharing my affinity for pumpernickel :) Gotta love the gardein tenders and dinner looks great too!

The chicks are so adorable!!! You keep adding to your crew, such a wonderful thing you are doing. It is really amazing that you are also caring Chicky and his/her broken leg. You are a good mama!!

Fingers crossed that the maintenance is done and you get a good Asian meal!

I haven't commented in so long--I've just been buried at work and am still not exhumed. Having said that, you are such a wonderful person for rescuing that baby. Good for you!

I'm so glad you rescued the chick with the broken leg! How wonderful. I love your new little friends. Keep us updated on their progress; they've found a good home for sure!

I think BlessedMama's loaf is close to qualifying for the "magical never-ending" category. Food all looks good!

Glad to know there are no mustard seeds on your bagels. The pumpernickle looks fantastic.

I think I've been convinced to make Blessed Mama's roast.

Baby chicks! So sweet and gentle, I'm sure the little guy / lady appreciates your generosity! Can't wait to see them grow and frolick in the yard.

I've been reading your blog for a while now, but I've never commented. Now seems like a good time because I have to say that Chicky is adorable and what you've done for him is beautiful.

Oh, you are such a softie! I'm loving that little chick cast. I know it's for healing, but...how cute is that?! Oh, Chicky and the other two are lucky little birds. Now, will you integrate all the fuzzies together eventually, or do you run a segregated sanctuary?

Ha! Blessed mama is right; you are a softie and good on ya. Can't wait to see how they come up. Will you be introducing them to the guinea fowl?
The breakfast looks awesome. Definitely down with hummus.

Hey Now!!!!

VaVa, I don't think you really crossed your fingers -- the maintenance wasn't finished on Kobe Grill;-(

Stacy, so freedom from hard work is not one of the perks of living in Canada?

Rose, Blessed Mama's Loaf is really big. Feeds more than five hungry vegans. That's what is so great about it (besides the great taste and texture).

Miss Rachel, the chicks totally use their adorableness to exploit me. I'm their willing pawn.

Ingrid, I do think you have struck upon a lucrative idea -- mustard seed bagels. Better patent it quickly.

Annie, I knew a baby chick in a cast would bring out at least one lurker. Welcome!

Blessed Mama, I was just thinking today 'maybe it really could be a sanctuary here'. How did you read my mind? Weird!

FF, yes, the Guinea Fowl make sure to get to know everyone in order to prepare to freak out when strangers come around.
