Monday, May 28th

I finally made FF's Rising Sun Smoothie this morning. Following the recipe exactly except for the Spriulina, I was quite impressed with this interpretation. I believe the lemon juice made it too refreshing and less decadent than it really is. More Tahini and sweetener is necessary to fully achieve the greatness of a RS Smoothie, but this is a good jumping off point.

1.5 T molasses
1.5 T tahini
juice from 1/2 a lemon (about 2 tsp)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 T coffee
1 tsp spirulina (I didn't add this)
dash of nooch
1 large handful spinach
1 frozen banana, sliced
1/2 inch knob of ginger or 1/2 tsp. powdered ginger
1/2 to 1 cup water

The heat has been getting to me, so no lunch. Morningstar Farms Vegan Grillers and TJ's Tots for dinner.
This day almost qualifies as gluten-free, I believe. Coming up tomorrow: Working from home.

Oh, very cool! I'm glad you thought it was up to snuff. It probably could go for some more tahini but I like lemon in my smoothies...If I had had spinach this morning I totally would have loved to make this again. It really is way too hot and humid to eat much more than a smoothie. (Though I can!)
Does working from home feel anything like a four-day weekend?

I definitely know what you mean about the heat affecting your appetite. And it was disgustingly hot today. The smoothie sounds delicious and refreshing though and that dinner looks yummy and holiday appropriate :)

Hopefully it'll cool off a bit tomorrow!

Heat and humidity already? Yuck! I hope everything cools off soon.

The Rising Sun sounds pretty flavorful. Are you due another trip to Everlasting Life Cafe? You know, just to be sure of the combo and to allow me to eat vicariously through you?

I will be watching the Bachelorette tonight, in your honor. (Saw about 30 minutes last week.)

I've found that I am really loving lemon in my juice and in everything lately. I'm proud of you for going to the movies. May this be a first step for you. There's a life to be lived out there, Missy!

I was in D.C. Saturday and was tryyyying to get to Sticky Fingers. But the darn MD traffic got us stuck too long in traffic going to some monuments. I sacrificed my dreamed of meal in the name of my son's education.

I'll show your turtle pics to my kids; they'll be happy that Aunt Shen also turns around for turtles. Hope your weekend was rejuvenating!

Hey Now!!!!

FF, working from home beats getting up at dark o'thirty and driving into the offce to sit upright in a cube all day. But WFH can be very stressful and draining in its own way.

VaVa, disgustingly hot is right. I dont think I can handle this heat any longer.

Ingrid, we want to go to Everlasting Life Cafe, but Sticky Fingers has the breakfast offering. It is a timing thing I guess. Hope you enjoy the Bachelorette. This season is different because of the single-mom aspect. The dates are pretty tame/dull.

GFHTummy, thanks for looking!

Jenny, will you tell us where you ate en route to NYC? Glad you saw the monuments, it's tough getting parking in DC.
