Saturday, December 13th

The Pups got me up at 3:30am and I couldn't get back to sleep, so by 7:30am I was too starving to wait to go out to eat...
Here is what I was trying to wait for: Native Food's new location in Falls Church!
As far as we were concerned, this pre-opening went way more smoothly than the D.C. preview we attended a couple months ago. Additionally, IMO, the food was better at this location...
I started with the Native Chili. It was stupendous. Can't wait to stock up on this when they open for reals next week...
My Mexican Cobb Salad was massive. It was super delicious as well, but I would hesitate to order it again just because it was even too much when eating the leftovers for dinner. Possibly would be a a good Salad to split with someone...
I took a little bite of my side order of Lemon Dill Potato Salad and packed up the rest to go for later in the week...
Mr. SVegetarian loved his Soul Bowl (that is a skewer of Fried Chicken on top with Corn Bread). The Fries were so much better than what we tried in DC as well...
Please dont let these Fries be a fluke....
We both opted for the Peanut Butter Parfait for dessert...
Lucky us. Bye for now.

Wow, what a fun feast.
That salad does look gigantic. The one I get at Bite is really delicious, but I have to force myself to finish it because leftover salad is sad.
Love the hunk of cornbread on the mr.'s plate.
Sorry the pups woke you up! Did you have to go walk them after that?? Haxan has been waking me up at 5 am by climbing onto my chest and waving her tail in my face, but I usually get up, give her a little food, and go back to sleep for 2 hrs.

Oh geez, not a great start to the day with such an early wake up..
What a great restaurant to have nearby-sounds like everything was so good! Was it even better than black bear's chili? That does look like a massive salad- which is a good thing if you ask me :) I eat the big ones strategically drizzling dressing on part at a time to prevent soggy leftover issues.
Dessert looks amazing too! Very exciting addition for you there.

Apparently one of those tupperwares was borscht! Ha! Who knew?? It will be like a dinner surprise going through those this week.... Leftovers of something i made and froze at some point.

You are so lucky to have two locations, and this one being better than the last! Everything looks so incredible, would love to try one of their salads. The parfait sounds so amazing too. Definitely a little jealous ;) Mr. SVeg's dish looks really yummy too.

Not jealous of waking up at 3:30 though! Yikes!

Hey Now!!!

FF, when you're paying an arm and a leg for a Salad, ya aint gonna waste it. We currently are in possession of two hunks of Cornbread if you have any suggestions. Heck no I aint walking the dogs.. You arent supposed to reward bad behaviour. Instead, I laid in bed thinking of horrible things for a couple hours, then got up and surfed the net till the sun came up.

Unknown, Mr, SV & I actually discussed this at lunch yesterday, we decided we cant compare Native Foods Chili to Black Bear Bistro since they are so different (BBB being more classic style) however points go in Native Foods' favor for the Chili always being available. Alas, the Salad had already started its watery decline without the Dressing (seemed to be from the Beans) but I ate it all anyway. I bet FF would be thrilled with that Borscht. You could drop it off at her bookstore as a treat.

VP, nothing like great Fries. Makes life worth living.

Sarah, so so lucky to have Native Foods open in Falls Church, It is literally a dream come true. Who wouldve thunk Native Foods coming to the DC area before the NY area? so strange.
