Friday, November 1st

A bottle of Bhakti Chai for breakfast. The first sip is always incredible. It's not possible to maintain that first blast to the taste buds throughout the rest of the bottle, however pleasurable the rest may be...
Lunch was at Lebanese Taverna where we started with the 'Hommus Sampler' $12 Spicy, Garlic and Traditional Hommus with Veggie Dippers. Hommus is the same as Hummus....
Also some 'Baba Ghanoush' $7.5 Pureed Eggplant, Tahini, Garlic, Lemon and Poms (My mother  spooned out some of the Baba Ghanoush before I could get the first pic)...
Fries $4 to jack up the cost of the meal to $40 to get the most out of the Groupon...
Gardein Riblets and Roasted Cauliflower for dinner...
About a block from the restaurant is an outpost of Georgetown Cupcake. Their vegan Cupcake of the Day was 'Cranberry Spice' $2.75, so I picked one up for dessert. It was super rich but good. I would go back and get another one if it was convenient...
There can only be good food in store for tomorrow.

Very pretty cupcake. They put a ton of frosting on the ones we get in Milwaukee, too.

Lunch looks really good!

Hooray for Bhakti! Does your WF appear to have dealt with the stoppage, and is now restocking regularly - or did you find it elsewhere? It's the best.

We might have talked about this, but two years ago when visiting, I took a picture of Georgetown Cupcake but didn't venture in due to lack of parking and a line circling the block. I did, however, go to the Dumbarton Oaks just down the street from there.

I love eating fries with hummus!

That chai is really good- totally know what you mean about the first sip being the best.
What a wimpy side of veggies to dip they gave you! Were there also pitas? Or you just dipped the fries? (Which is brilliant) The "hommas" (whatever) looks nice and fluffy, and some good texture to the Baba there.
I saw your field roasts! They were at fairway near me on wednesday. And btw, according to the chipotle peeps website the tofu is in the DC area now and in VA, not yet nyc.

Hey Now!!!

Hannah, anything less than an inch of icing on a cake is viewed very unfavorably in this country. By myself as well.

RVs, you can always take away frosting, but you can't add it.

Ingrid, I'm thinking that WF's (where I found the Bhakti) might only stock it seasonally. I don't recall you mentioning Georgetown Cupcakes on your visit, but you didn't miss much. Beet Box looks much better. Our area has much better vegan cake options as well, like Le Pain Quotidien, Sweet & Natural etc...

VGG, it never occurred to me to dip the the Fries in the Hummus. I think they might have broken off, don't think it would work, but I'll try next time.

Unknown, yes, there were Pitas at lunch but I thought it would be boring to post a pic of those. I just checked local Chipotles and the Sofritas are on the 'Order Online' menus! I will try them ASAP. Will also search again for the Field Roasts. Thanks for the excellent reconnaissance work. This is very exciting news!
