Saturday, June 29th

Got a late start this morning, so the sun was risen by the time we got to Sunrise Cafe....
I had the Hummus and Tomato Sandwich with Route 11 Chips. Very tasty. We shall probably return.
CSA Soup for dinner...
I made a batch of Blessed Mama's Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies this afternoon. Ran out of Jelly towards the end of the 'dollop procedure' so I used Chocolate Chunks to fill the rest of the Cookies.
My only complaint is that these Cookies are too delicious.
Hoping to get up in time for breakfast tomorrow.

I love the sign on that restaurant!! Tomato and hummus is a great combo so I bet that breakfast was yummy. Oooh this batch of CSA soup looks so packed with veggies. It looks amazing!

Great job with the cookies! They look great and using chocolate for the last couple was definitely a good call :)

Well you certainly got what you ordered for lunch. No hidden ingredients or pulled punches there.
Chocolate chip addition to anything is never a bad idea. What kind of jelly did you use?

It's a hard life when food is too delicious. Also, what's with Route 11 chips? Apparently Ben & Jerry's has just made a Washington DC ice cream that has those chips in it. Sadly not vegan, of course.

Looks like a great open face sandwich, regardless of where the sun is..... Chips on the side always feels retro somehow. And delicious
Amazing cookies are a good problem to have :) the chocolate swap was a good call!
Hmmm. Sleeping late vs breakfast. I usually go with sleeping in (on weekends) and brunch- best of both worlds. And in nyc everyone has brunch until 4pm

Hey Now!!!

VaVa, the restaurant is very photogenic. Lots of neat vintage touches inside as well. You would've done a better job capturing it than I could.

FF, hilarious comment on the Hummus and Tomato Sandwich. I was curious to see how they would make it differently than I would. I must commend the 'chef' for using the center slice of the Tomato on each piece of bread. Mediterranean Organic Cherry Preserves on the Cookies.

Hannah, we think that all restaurants on Route 11 have some sort of agreement to use Route 11 Brand Chips with their meals. At least that seems to be our recent experience.

Unknown, 'retro' is right. Hope you're no longer sleeping under your desk. I know brunch is a huge deal in NYC these days. Wish I could partake.
