Lunch was Pad Pik King Jae -- Tofu with String Beans and Squash in Curry Sauce, Spring Rolls on the side, from Tara Thai. After I finished eating, I read the hardcopy menu that I picked up and saw that all the vegetarian dishes contain fish sauce. For some reason, this information didn't distress me as much as I thought it would -- usually I would just chalk it up to me being a huge failure at veganism/life etc. and beat myself up all day at the least. Not sure why I didn't react this time.
Dinner was a steaming bowl of Bryanna's Mushroom Barley Soup.
A Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcake with Cinnamon Frosting for dessert. Mr. SV seems to really be impressed with these.
A bottle of Lost Vineyards Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon...

The lunch looks so delish...bummer about the fish sauce though...You're right not to stress on it too much...at least you know for the future.
Those cupcakes do look great...the whole combo sounds so yummy, esp that cinnamon frosting.

hahaha a huge failure at life? lol i dont think so. we all have done this:) you have the right attitude. now..dont beat yourself up for not beating yourself up k?
bah i still havent looked up that frosting recipe...probably because i know ill like it to much:)

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets the veganism messed up at times. I'm learning to not let the slip ups bother me as much...good job on not letting it get to you!

Maybe fish sauce just sounds too ridiculous to get worried about.

Yeah, the fish sauce thing was definitely too dumb to deal with. How can they label the twelve or so dishes as 'vegetarian' and then say ' All Vegetarian dishes contain fish sauce'. I just can't deal and must move on.

I think I would be making myself puke in the bathroom. It's much better, though, that it didn't distress you. I wish sometimes I was just an ethical vegan and not an ethical-plus-it-totally-grosses-me-out vegan. You're much more cool and collected than I am.

Oh, that's so weird. I don't know how I ended up on this very old post!!! And now I have to be worried about Michele again. Good grief.
