Friday, October 21st

Lunch was the 'Roasted Vegetable Salad' - Roasted Artichoke Hearts, Asparagus, Peppers, Corn and Sun-Dried Tomatoes on Romaine lettuce with Avocados. Fat-Free Balsamic Vinaigrette subbed for Dijon $13.25 from California Pizza Kitchen.
It's only a four hour drive away, but much as I've wanted to for years, I've never dined at Candle Cafe. Now I can have the Candle Cafe experience in my own home with my favorite dining companions:
No celebrity sightings or blogger meetups, but totally glamorous and gourmet. Portion size could have been several times bigger for my tastes, that's just my gluttony.
Pretty exceptional food day, if I must say so myself.

Whoa, I thought the roasted artichoke heart was a piece of fake chicken or something, I was going to be very impressed with CPK.
And 4 hours ain't nothin'. Do it! We New Yorkers have somewhat insurmountable mental blocks that keep us from going above 14th St (if you live in Brooklyn. Or maybe that's just me?) so I've yet to go either.

I agree, this looks like a great food day! I've agreed with you before, I really like the roasted veg salad from CPK. I haven't been to Candle Cafe either and I'm all of 20-30 mins from the city. That cake looks rich and delicious, yum!

The food looks great, but I agree that I would want more ravioli. Who wouldn't?!

Whoa, mega salad! I just bought some artichokes today to put on the pizza I plan on making tomorrow. But now I kinda want to make a salad like that.

Your dog is so cute! I swear, every time he/she in one of your pictures my heart melts!

Your food looks REALLY good today. I am totally into ravioli right now. What is your favorite brand and kind so far? I need a good suggestion. Oh and how was that CPK salad? I've been dying to go there!

And that is one exceptionally beautiful puplet, what a little poser!

I've seen that ravioli in a shop near me, have been meaning to get some for a while, but I get distracted by the vegan cakes when I go in :-/

I live about 21 hours away from Candle Cafe, and I've eaten there almost ten times. Just sayin'. I did see that we had the Candle Cafe Mac n Cheese at our WF this week. I didn't get it because it was $6.99, and Amy's is $4.99, I think. But I would have gotten that ravioli. How much was yours? I have big portion size issues.

I have heard good things about this Candle Cafe. . .I don't have any immediate plans to visit NY, but I do have plans to go to Whole Foods. If I try anything, I will let you know! (Because you'd want to know, right?)

Hey Now!!!!

FF, everytime I get the CPK Roasted Veggie Salad, I'm like, 'Is this chicken???' Suffice to say, they do a good job roasting the chokes.

VaVa, I get what you & FF are saying about not hitting Candle Cafe. You are saying that you're both ingrates that take for granted that it will be there whenever you feel like dropping in. Totally get it.

Stacy, there is no limit to the amount of vegan Ravioli I could ingest. Seriously. I'd be like that Asian chick who wins all the food eating contests. Except I'd win all the Vegan Ravioli eating contests.

Isotope, yeah, I will always feel major guilt adopting this dog. She's a real beauty. It's all of our duties to adopt the non-beauties from the local shelters.

Carissa, no need for you to waste a meal at CPK. Just be living off the Coconuts and PIneapples that grow wild on the island. In answer to your Q, I've never had a Ravioli I didn't love. They're all great in their own way.

Nicola, that's cool that Candle Cafe's products are in the UK. It's a restaurant that dreams are made off.

Jenny, 21 hours from Arkansas to NYC? How many rest stops are you taking? Are you including an overnight halfway? I assume so. FYI, it isn't polite to brag! Also, I've never bought Amy's Mac & Cheese, but I'm pretty sure it's worth the extra $2 to get the Candle Cafe brand, because I have come to believe that 'Amy' is just some faux hippy brand that is manipulating us for the $. I think I paid $6.99 for the CC frozen entrees as well, but I took into consideration the gas, tolls, hotels etc to get to NYC. While I felt the Ravioli portion was 'skimpy', I only had dessert afterwards, so maybe it actually was a sufficient portion size!

Ingrid, you got it. All I care about is food. What you ate. What I ate. What whomever ate. Doesn't matter.

Kimberly, the pup is a major lover. She can't get enough cuddling. Insatiable little gal.

FF, LOL! Thanks for the laff.

It really is 20-21 hours if you drive straight from here to NYC! It's like 1260 miles. I won't brag again. Really, I was just encouraging. Thank you for the information. I promise I'll try the CC mac n cheese soon.
