Sunday, April 28th

"Who dis?!" you ask. It's actually one of the few pics in circulation of The Unknown Vegan. I'm posting it because she gave me a gift certificate to Fratelli's Restaurant in Alexandria. So, if you see her,  be nice and she might give you a gift certificate too!
Neither Mr. SVegetarian nor myself had been to nor heard of this restaurant before. It is in a cute free-standing building off Van Dorn Street. Upon sitting down, we each enjoyed an Iced Cold Peroni $5.25 while we perused the menu. Our first ever Italian beer. Great firsts abounded.
The hot crusty Italian Bread was excellent...
as was the Side Salad that comes with the Entree..
A piping hot plate of Angel Hair Pasta with Fresh Basil and Light Tomato Sauce $13.45 was my entree. All great. Thank you so much, Unknown! And after lunch, Mr. SVegetarian took me by the apartment where he lived during his depressed teen-age years, so that was informative.
What do you do for dinner after all that?! Morningstar Farms Vegan Grillers with Daiya and Roasted Potatoes for dinner.
Then you move on to a half a piece of Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting from Dawson's Market for dessert.
I dunno about you, but I'm starting to get suspicious of the ingredients lists on my desserts. There isn't even any mention of Chocolate in this one..
Back to the cube tomorrow.

That was extremely nice of the Unknown Vegan to give you a gift certificate! Looks like you put it to great use. That bread does look deliciously crusty.

Weird that chocolate isn't listed on the ingredients list for the cake..... I would become suspicious, too!

Aww how sweet of the Unknown Vegan to give you that gift certificate. Looks like a really great place! What a perfect way to discover it! That bread looks amazing and the pasta looks really delicious too.

The potatoes look so yummy and perfectly crispy. How strange that they don't include chocolate on the ingredient list! I definitely agree that suspicion is warranted. Very very strange.

A lovely gift indeed! Looks like a delicious meal all the way around. Glad to know the Mister now has you and the critters to keep him happy.

Hopefully they just forgot the second sticker with the frosting ingredients. Have you had it before? They should bake you a whole vegan cake for your Dawson's Market support. ;)

How cool that you got a gift certificate!
The pasta looks pretty good and the grillers look as good as usual!

Ya I wouldn't trust a cake that is missing ingredients!
I am from Colorado! Now I'm a little less mysterious I guess!

Haha, love that you posted that photo!
Glad you had such a yummy meal and tour of mr Sv's old stomping grounds. Somehow beer/wine/drinks from other countries are more delightful and alluring...
I'm with you on the suspicious label..... (Oat bran?? In cake?)

I'm confused about this Unknown Vegan, but I guess I've missed a lot. Glad you made it to Fratellis though, that is one hell of a plate of pasta. The beer looks especially cooling next to that.

Hey Now!!!!

Molly, really hoping the cake was at least vegan. Sure is delicious whatever it is made of.

VaVa, I love technology. It got me a free meal at Fratelli's.

Ingrid, an entire new cake sounds like the perfect restitution from Dawson's Market for their obvious oversight.

1eded7a4-91c0-11e2-bd5a-000bcdca4d7a, relieved to know you're from Colorado and not some weirdo.

Unknown, it was a very enjoyable meal. Wish we lived closer to the restaurant. We'd go there all the time.

FF, you wouldn't know the Unknown Vegan if she posted a comment right before you! The beer was pretty awesome.

Hannah, just gotta trust that the vegan grub is actually vegan.
