Monday, May 12th

Great breakfast as usual...
Then the food day went rapidly down hill. I steamed up half of a four-pack of Trader Joe's Artichokes for lunch. They looked bad at the store, but I still bought them. Super bitter! Harrable! Poo!
Field Roast Frankfurters and Oven Fries to the rescue for dinner. Helped wipe my palate clean....
A made-in-house Cassava Cake from Loving Hut for dessert...
Bye for now.

Yr gonna think I'm a dope but I bought an artichoke to try after yr last post about them but I haven't made it yet. I wonder if it's even still good. The other thing is, I refuse to buy veganaise so what other sauce would you recommend I eat it with?
What ya gonna do with the other two?
That cassava cake looks fantastic. Was it good?

I'd say three of four is still a great food day! That's sad about the artichokes but I know you are going to power through the other two because you don't like to throw out food. looks like everything else was a great success! I'm intrigued by the cassava cake! It looks great, what does cassava taste like? Is it bad that I don't know?

I hope making your own Cinnamon Raisin PB is legal because it's a done deal :D

You bagel still had its everything! Uugh, crappy artichokes are the worst. Be sure to tell the people at TJs, they will often give you a refund even without the receipt. Glad you made up for it with some gorgeous dinner taters. And that cake looks super dense and really good- can't say i've ever had cassava cake....
Ttrockwood

(FF! Artichokes are good forever in the fridge, and awesome with cashew cream, hummus, or melted earth balance)

Bad 'chokes are bad news. I won't be picking up any from TJs!

At least the day ended on a sweet note!

See that's why you shouldn't eat vegetables. (Ha, I eat a tonne of veggies, so that's bulldiddy. But still.)

Hey Now!!!!

FF, ordinarily, I am all about eating old food, but a year old Artichoke pushes the limit even for me. Why won't you eat Vegenaisse? Melted EB might work, but I've never tried it. See Unknown's recs below. I tossed the other two Artichokes into the compost pile and the Cassava Cake wasn't to my taste, but Mr. SV liked it.

Sarah, Cassava Cake appears to be like Coconut Cake and these 'Chokes were so bad that the unsteamed two have been tossed into the compost pile. Please post your Cinnamon Raisin PB recipe!

Unknown, I'm not a returner because I always feel guilty of 'something' when I try to return anything. The other two Artichokes are now with nature and one day soon, their bitter taste will leave my tongue.

Ingrid, Trader Joe's is apparently not infallible. Shame on Trader Joe's for these wretched Artichokes!

Hannah, Cassava is from your (original) part of the globe. Wattleberries > Cassava?

What?! Cassava isn't Australian! It's from the Philippines and similar countries. ???
