Saturday, October 12th

'Vegan Hash' $12 for breakfast at Tavern 64. Tofu, Potato Hash, Butternut Squash, Peppers, Onions, and Spinach. The Chef was apparently AWOL because there was no Chipotle Drizzle to tie it all together on this the day when I was determined to only eat delicious food.
The Jelly Blob came through but it wasn't enough. I was not to be thwarted in my need for 100% guaranteed deliciousness....
Fortunately, Thai Deelish lived up to their name with their 'Red Curry Tofu' $13.95 Tofu, Asparagus, Eggplant, Bamboo Shoots and Basil Leaves in Coconut Red Curry over Linguini.
Finally tried my first 'Moscow Mule' tonight. The alcohol in the Vodka combined with the alcohol in the Ginger Beer made for a nice buzz.
No dessert as I just couldn't make up my mind what to have.

Alcohol. Alcohol does usually help on days of dining disappointing. All disappointment, really.

The hash looks pretty darn good even without the drizzling- although its weird they left it off this time...... The tofu curry sounds so good with the eggplant and basil in there, tho i think bamboo shoots taste a lot like, um, nothing at all.
I'm impressed by your moscow mule! Yum!! Is the ginger beer like beer with a ginger flavor? Or like a strong ginger ale that is alchoholic? Never seen that "beer" before....

So glad the meatless balls fixed you last night- they're a staple food for me, i kind of worry when i'm down to "only" one bag....:)

Ooh, is the butternut squash a seasonal addition, or did I miss it last time? Boo hiss on the chipotle drizzle.

I've heard good things about Moscow Mules, sounds like it was a great substitute for dessert. ;)

Re: rain in your 'hood. . .Apparently there was an impending day trip to PA to visit an Amish farm. I'm not sure if it happened or not, as they have been gallivanting around all day, not answering their phone.

Sad news about the missing drizzle but it still looks really delicious without it! I would happily shovel that in my face for brunch along with delicious toast ;)

Your dinner looks pretty great too! I feel like everyone around me has been chowing down on some yummy looking Thai food lately and I've been craving it like crazy. I should remedy that and definitely go extra spicy. My sinuses will love/hate that ;)

I agree with above sentiments that Moscow Mules make a perfect dessert substitution

I too would like to know more about the ginger beer. Was it sweet? Sounds good.
Bummer about the missing drizzle but it looks tasty enough anyway. I'm kinda confused about what a hash is but I saw a recipe from Jamie Oliver recently of cubed, smashed celeriac and potatoes that sounds really good. But Butternut squash sounds even better.
Too bad you aren't getting the CSA anymore, maybe you'd get some celeriac!

Hey Now!!!!

Hannah, alcohol helps one celebrate as well, or just to self-medicate. Daily.

Unknown, Crabbies is a Ginger flavored Beer from the UK. Apparently, I was supposed to buy 'Reeds' brand Ginger Beer which is non-alcoholic, but, hey, sh*t happens. I recently bought a bag of Gardein Meatballs. Interested to see how they stack up against TJ's.

Ingrid, the Butternut Squash was a new one on me. Someone went rogue in the kitchen. Today is supposed the be the last day of rain. It's really been nasty. I wouldn't be surprised if your folks just hung out at Tysons Corner the whole visit.

Sarah, I've suddenly developed a sinus situation myself. The Thai food didn't help, and I ate ALL the Peppers.

FF, the Ginger Beer is nice, but very low alcohol content 4.8%, so not worth drinking on its own. I plan to make a 'Hash' soon, even though I don't know what it is and I did get Celeriac in my CSA, but just roasted it for the Pups.
