BOO!!
No, I didn't hit an artery, above is my Almond
Butter and Blackberry Jam treat from last night.
Pretty frightening huh? Happy Halloween!
Lunch today was carryout from a lovely restaurant
in Reston, Cafesano.
They have lots of beautiful veg-friendly items.
And best of all, everytime I've ordered from
them and said 'NO CHEESE', there has been
NO CHEESE! That really means a lot to me.
This is my Avocado & Tomato Wrap back at
work -- with NO CHEESE.

All Burritos Are Not Created Equal
Above is my Vegetable Burrito from Saturday's
lunch at Camino Real in Berryville.
For several dollars more, below is today's
lunch from Fresh City. To be fair, the ounce
of tofu and guac was an added $1.79.

Fresh City
A new franchise is now open in Herndon: Fresh City.
I ordered online tdoay: The 'Organic Hummus and Veggie
Sandwich' (Organic Hummus, Tomatoes, Cucumbers,
Suntan Peppers (huh?) , Red Onion and Aged Cheddar on
Multi-Grain Bread) as well as a cup of 'Organic Carrot
Broccoli Soup' (a delicious blend of Fresh Organic Carrots and
Broccoli in a vegetable stock seasoned with fresh herbs).
In my order I specified: NO CHEESE! and on my invoice
it said 'NO CHEESE'. Of course, when I got back to my
desk, there was a bunch of cheese all over my sandwich.
I was able to scrape a lot of it off (it was stuck to the hummus)
and it all turned out okay. I'll probably go back again.

Dirty Dishwater Soup
To use up the CSA's Kale, our soup this week
was Lively Up Yourself Lentil Soup from 101
Cookbooks (her picture does the soup justice).
I enjoy making this soup because there are
only a few ingrediants (easy!), its economical
and very satisfying. I think it should be called
Lively Yourself Up, but that's
just me.

Marmite
It has been several weeks since Maureen's post
about Vegemite. As soon as I read it, I knew
it was time to try it. All I could find in my area
was Marmite. For lunch today, I spread a thin
layer (as recommended) on a slice of toasted
Trader Joe's Tuscan Bread.
It had an interesting smokey/salty flavor. I'm
not feeling the need to eat it every day yet, but
it's always great to try new things. Thank you
Maureen! Aren't you glad to know your blog
had an effect on some lady's life way down in
Virginia?

Mimosa & Hunters Head Tavern
Saturday's lunch was at my current favorite
restaurant, Mimosa.
Unfortunately, I only remembered to take pics
of our appetizers: Edamame and Sweet Potato
Tempura. Both were excellent as always.
Today started out very chilly and so a cozy
pub was in order for lunch. We went to Hunters
Head Tavern in Upperville.
They are very vegetarian friendly, not so much
vegan friendly. I had the Boca Burger. Can't get
that at home! (I do love the atmosphere here).

Lucky Star Lounge
Lunch today was at Lucky Star Lounge. The
majority of items on their menu are vegetarian.
There was a street fair in Old Town Front Royal
today, hence the happy faces.
This is my 'Stargarita' which really gave me a
great buzz.
Above is Mr. SV's spicy veggie chili. He said it had
interesting depth of flavor. He never said that
about my chili.
This is my Veggie Sandwich w/Meunster
Cheese on the side. It had Hummus and
Sprouts and was supposed to have Avocado,
but I didn't spot any. I was flying from the
drink and really wasn't sure what I was eating.
Lucky Star Lounge: Go for the drinks and the
atmosphere.

Wegmans Asian Hot Bar
Lunch today was carryout from Wegmans. Their
extensive Asian Hot Bar only has two or three veggie
items, but the few they have are tasty!

Sunshine Veggie Sandwich
This is what you get when you order the Sunshine
Veggie Sandwich (described on the menu as "a healthy
vegan sandwich with Lettuce, Diced Tomato and
Avocado) from Mimosa. There were none of those of
those items on this sandwich. Although there was some
Tomato Salsa on the side. What they served was Carrots,
Onions and Mushrooms, sauteed with some sort of
batter, atop a regular hamburger bun. It came
with Zucchini Matchsticks. All very delicious, but
kinda strange that it was nothing like the menu described.

Indian Veggie Burger
You are looking at a Veggie Burger from Hot Breads Indian Bakery. Topped w/Lettuce, Tomato, Onions & Chutney. It was like a samosa in patty form. Perfectly spicy. The fries are from a nearby pizzeria.
