Saturday, March 16th

A Groupon brunch was enjoyed at Rosa Mexicano today....
For $56 you got loads of Guac & Alcohol along with two entrees and a shared dessert. It might have been more economical in the end to just order those things a la carte since we didn't really need the entrees and dessert.
They have little rolling carts that come around to each to table to make Guacamole.  Quite tasty.
A sample of their frozen Pomegranate Margarita was included in the deal.
This Pitcher of Sangria gave me a good buzz so that was worthwhile.
Made with Apricot Brandy, Triple Sec, Orange Juice, Apples, Pineapple and Cucumber.
My Tropical Fruit Bowl made with Mango, Strawberries, Granola & Dates. Very delicious. Mr. SV's brunch was vegetarian, but not vegan, so I'm not showing that.
Math is not my strong suit, so in addition to the $56.00 I paid for the Groupon, there was an extra $26.28 tax and tip for a total of $82.28. Pretty expensive brunch for us, but it forced us out of our comfort zone and I got to see what this well known restaurant was all about.
More Groupon action for dinner. Carryout from Himalayan Heritage. Even though I bought the Groupon in order to try Nepalese cuisine, I wimped out and ordered the usual Indian things I always get: Samosa (this one was super spicy)....
and Aloo Ghobi (Cauliflower and Potatoes), although they call it Aloo Kauli Tarkari and it was really different and delicious. More Tomatoey than the usual Aloo Ghobi.
Using up two Groupons in one day gives one a great sense of accomplishment.

Looks like a great meal, despite the expense. The drinks are so pretty. Love the colors of them!

For some reason I thought Mr. SV was vegan. Does he usually eat vegan? It seems like you two share an awful lot of vegan meals, which is awesome.

Your dinner looks fantastic, too. A great day of getting your groupon on!

Loved the muffin motif on friday- and another day of awesome eats today too! There is a rosa mexicana here, i've been a few times tho my memories are fuzzy.... See your comments re: amazing beverages. I do remember thinking it was $$, but i always get screwed in the group dining situations. (I'm a lightweight drinker. My friends are not!) Indulgent brunching is always fun.
And who cares if you didnt get something risky/new- looks like it was great. Everything is better with more tomatoes.

Definitely can't go wrong with a boozy brunch! The margarita looks so good and that Sangria!! I would have just stuck a straw in the pitcher and went to town. That's not classy though I suppose. The guac looks fantastic and your tropical fruit bowl looks yummy too! I also always thought Mr. SV is vegan! how sweet that he is so willing to partake in vegan meals and treats too :)

Dinner looks great too! Great job grouponing! Looks like it was definitely worth it :)

Yikes. That's a lot of dough but the sangria looks worth it. Did I miss yr entree? The math on Grouponing always screws me up as well. I just let other people deal with that part.

I am guessing this is an upscale establishment? $90 for a brunch is quite an investment, and I'm glad the sangria and guacamole made it stellar. The tropical fruit bowl sounds ideal for a summertime breakfast. Realizing it has been nearly two years since I was last in DC, is it typical for restaurants to assume your service is 20% tip-worthy?

The Indian food also looks really delicious!

I ate dinner at Rosa Mexicano in NYC a couple years back. I loved the guacamole, and I thought it was cool the way they made it at the table. Looks like a very tasty, albeit expensive, meal.

Hey Now!!!!

RVs, I guess it's confusing since I've always called him 'Mr. Shenandoah Vegan', but he's actually 'Mr. Shenandoah Vegetarian'. I will now refer to him as that.

Unknown, that is a bummer that you get screwed in the group situation. Your friends must be entertaining or quite dear to justify the extra expense for their company. Another gorgeous LPQ Carrot Muffin is in the offing.

VaVa, Mr. SV is a good eater and is primarily vegan. He eats way more fruits and vegetables than I do.

FF, the Tropical Fruit Bowl was the entree. Which, BTW, was $11.50 on the menu, but $13.20 on the check. I posted the receipt cuz my brain was spinning from the Sangria and I had never seen anything like it.

Ingrid, it wasn't as upscale as I'd envisioned, but, 18-20% is de rigueur. Not so in Denver?

Miss Rachel, I'm glad that I can now know what Rosa Mexicano is like. However, I see no reason to return.
