Sunday, June 30th

Getting up earlier didn't make much difference today since we got to The Common Market before their Hot Bar opened at 11am. I ordered the Tofurky Reuben...
by the time my Sandwich was ready, the Hot Bar opened, so I got some Roasted Potatoes.
TJ's Chickenless Chicken Tenders with Heinz-57 and Zucchini and Chickpea Pancakes for dinner. This was not the best combo of flavors. The Pancakes should have just been a meal in themselves, rather than a side dish.
An entire rich and fudgy Chocolate Donut from Vegan Treats via Loving Hut for dessert...
Used up some CSA Mint Leaves making a Mint Russki. The Leaves give off a plethora of mintiness.
I show it every year on the blog: Butterfly Weed in bloom. Love that flower.
WFH grub tomorrow.

Saturday, June 29th

Got a late start this morning, so the sun was risen by the time we got to Sunrise Cafe....
I had the Hummus and Tomato Sandwich with Route 11 Chips. Very tasty. We shall probably return.
CSA Soup for dinner...
I made a batch of Blessed Mama's Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies this afternoon. Ran out of Jelly towards the end of the 'dollop procedure' so I used Chocolate Chunks to fill the rest of the Cookies.
My only complaint is that these Cookies are too delicious.
Hoping to get up in time for breakfast tomorrow.

Friday, June 28th

I barely did anything on my vacation day, although I did just accidentally delete all my links to other vegan blogs. Tofutti Cream Cheese and Cucumber on a toasted Millet & Flax Bagel for breakfast...
CSA Salad for lunch....
CSA Hot Salad for dinner...
PPK Banana Bread for dessert.
Trying to drag Mr. SVegetarian out for some good grub tomorrow...

WTF Thursday

A heated up slice of The Randy Radish Quiche for breakfast. Only one piece left before it completely disintegrates. Tastes even better than it did three weeks ago though.
CSA Salad with Goddess Dressing for lunch...
A return to faux meat and potatoes tonight, Gardein Sloppy Joes on TJ's WW Hamburger Buns with Oven Fries for dinner...
and that's it. No dessert. Taking a vacation day tomorrow, so we'll see if that makes the post anymore interesting.

Wednesday, June 26th

A third of a Blueberry Danish from Vegan Treats via Loving Hut for breakfast...
Some really great Blackened Tofu with various mixed vegetables and other Tofu off the WF's hot bar for lunch...
Mrs. May's Almond Crunch from the vending machine to make the afternoon go by a little bit faster...
The last of the CSA Soup for dinner...
'Tofu Reuben Spring Rolls' with Thousand Island Dressing from The Randy Radish for dessert. Like little condensed Reubens in a crunchy shell. Should have bought more.
My CSA haul from Potomac Vegetable Farms today was: Mint, Lettuce, Radishes...
Carrots, Garlic Scapes, Cabbage, Squash and Onions.
Mollykins says, 'No Beets this week? That's no good'.
WFH grub tomorrow.

WTF Tuesday

Sarah Kramer Banana Pancakes with TJ's Maple Syrup for breakfast...
Lunch was the White Bean and Garlic Scapes Dip that I found on the NYTimes. Here is the recipe so you don't waste one of your 20 clicks on it:
1/3 cup sliced garlic scapes (3 to 4)
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice, more to taste
1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt, more to taste
Ground black pepper to taste
1 can (15 ounces) cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, more for drizzling.
1. In a food processor, process garlic scapes with lemon juice, salt and pepper until finely chopped. Add cannellini beans and process to a rough purée.
2. With motor running, slowly drizzle olive oil through feed tube and process until fairly smooth. Pulse in 2 or 3 tablespoons water, or more, until mixture is the consistency of a dip. Add more salt, pepper and/or lemon juice, if desired.
3. Spread out dip on a plate, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with more salt.
Yield: 1 1/2 cups.
On a toasted Ezekiel English Muffin it was okay, but not as good as Hummus. Perhaps it is better as a dip.
I used up the rest of the Napa Cabbage tonight making more of this recipe for Napa Cabbage with Soba Noodles In Peanut Sauce.
Gianduia Chocolate from The Fresh Market with White Chocolate Peanut Butter for dessert.
Work from depressing cube tomorrow. I foresee WF's hot bar.

WTF Monday

A heated up slice of The Randy Radish Quiche for breakfast. It's gotten knocked around in fridge a little over the past few weeks, but still tastes as great as day one.
A Really Big Salad With Lots Of Stuff In It for lunch.
CSA Soup for dinner. Like putting a red sock in the laundry,  it's turning pink cuz of the Beet Greens. ..
After all that healthy grub, I felt the need to binge. Tofutti Cream Cheese and Cucumber on a toasted Millet & Flax Bagel for dessert filled the bill.
A day of sadness here at the Shenandoah Vegan. The baby chicks that I've been showing on the blog were not Eastern Phoebes after all. They turned out to be Brown Headed Cowbirds. The larger Brown Headed Cowbirds crowded out and the smaller baby Phoebes. The baby Phoebes didn't get enough food to survive.  Had I known sooner, I still wouldn't have been able to physically harm the BHC baby chicks, but hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to recognize the eggs before they hatch. On the plus side, the Brown Headed Cowbirds have left the nest.

Sunday, June 23rd

I did eat very well today, even if there were basically just two meals. Breakfast was the 'Vegan Egg Wrap' $10 at Busboys and Poets. Tortilla Wrapped Tofu Scramble with Mixed Veggies, Vegan Bacon and Vegan Cheese, served with Salsa and Home Fries. Really great!
Too stuffed for lunch, I just had a Kombucha. Not as refreshing as GT Kombucha in my opinion.
CSA Soup and three Immaculate Baking Crescent Rolls for dinner.
I thought I'd be eating dessert, but I guess not. Exciting post, huh? WFH grub tomorrow.

Saturday, June 22nd

Sarah Kramer Banana Pancakes with TJ's Maple Syrup for breakfast...
Lunch was at Black Bear Bistro where Mr. SVegetarian and I split some out of focus Grilled Artichokes and Red Pepper Coulis to start...
I had the 'Garbanzo Burger' with Red Pepper Coulis and Fries. It was just so so. I'm not doing so well eating out lately except for The Randy Radish.
CSA Soup comprised of Yellow Squash, Snap Peas, Hakurei Turnips (including the Greens), Beet Greens,  Basil, and Oregano. Non CSA components were the Wegmans Organic Diced Tomatoes, Garbanzos, Onion, Garlic and Chili Powder. I made a massive pot of this Soup, so it will be around for a while...
PPK Banana Bread for dessert.
The Eastern Phoebes Chicks have grown substantially in the past few days and lost their peach fuzz, but their eyes still appear closed.
I sure hope I eat all delicious food all day tomorrow.

Friday, June 21st

A Carrot Cake For One from Le Pain Quotidien for breakfast. Very pleasing...
Lunch was at Quench, where we each started with a 'Django Juice' $8 Caribbean Rum Punch...
I had the 'Vegetarian Sandwich' $10 Olive Tapenade, Avocado, Pea Shoots, Crispy Shitake Mushroom on Ciabbata with Fries. Not as good as last time we were there, the Fries and Bread seemed reheated/stale.
The last of the Escarole and Lentil Soup for dinner. I'll be making a new pot this weekend....
Speaking of the weekend, no food plans.

WTF Thursday

A CSA Vegetable was part of all three meals today.  Tofutti Cream Cheese and Cucumber on a toasted Millet & Flax Bagel for breakfast...
A Really Big Salad With Lots Of Stuff In It for lunch...
So huge was this Salad, I had to offload it in portions onto a plate to eat it...
To use up about a dollars worth of Napa Cabbage, I spent approximately $15 for ingredients to make this recipe for Napa Cabbage with Soba Noodles In Peanut Sauce. It is a good recipe, Mr. SVegetarian even liked it.
Coming up tomorrow, a Groupon lunch with Mom featuring two of my favorite foods: Bread and Potatoes.
