Day Thirty One

In my on-going quest to understand the appeal of Eggplant, I had Baba Ganoush for lunch today at The Mediterranean Cafe. I knew if any place could do well by Eggplant, it would be this place.
It was good. I ate all of it, of course. Still don't get it though...
Mr. SV's Veggie Pasta was phenomenal as always.
I would've loved to go out of Vegan Mofo with a bang, but as is my style, I'm going out with a whimper instead. Happy Halloween! We return to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow...

Day Thirty

Today's lunch was at Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge. The 'Mediterranean Veggie Pita' - Spinach, Roasted Roma Tomatoes, Pickled Red Onions, Roasted Red Pepper, Hummus and Kalamata Olives with seasonal fruit $8.95. It was more delicious than it appears and a Kalamata Olive got in my seasonal fruit cup. I think olives are a fruit?Dinner was Chickpea Cutlets with Sweet Potato Fries and a Curry Sauce (Curry Powder mixed with Veganaisse to taste).

Day Twenty Six

Lunch today was the Veggie Sandwich from ZPizza and a cup of Garden Vegetable Soup from Panera. On Saturday, I made Veggie Chili (our oven is still broken, so it will be stove top meals for a while). I had mine in the bread bowl that came with my soup from Panera:

This was my first time eating out of a bread bowl. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be, it was actually kinda difficult.

This was my first time ever making Wild Rice, Alicia said it wasn't difficult and she was right! (Its not undercooked, that's just the Earth Balance making it looking wet).

Day Twenty Three

Another Burrito Bol from Chipotle today for lunch...
...and Tofu Scramble with Potatoes, Onions and Chorizo for dinner....

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Day Twenty Two

Lunch today was carryout from ZPizza. We still don't have the option of vegan cheese here at the Virginia locations, so I got the Veggie Sandwich (sans cheese).
Avocado, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Cucumbers, Artichoke Hearts, Caramelized Onions and Italian Dressing on a French Roll. How could that combination be bad? It cant be. All for only $5.95
Dinner was Mr. SV's Spaghetti -- Barilla Whole Wheat Capellini, Classico Spicy Red Pepper Sauce and Boca Crumbles. No TJ's Meatless Meatballs tonight, because the oven is broken.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Day Nineteen

Today I stood outside in the cold wind waiting till California Pizza Kitchen opened their doors at not-a-second-before 11:30, just to get a bowl of their delectable Dakota Smashed Pea and Barley Soup. This blog is not meant to be a b*tchfest about chain restaurants, but how many millions of dollars per year would CPK lose if they filled their carry-out soup containers all the way to the top? They could even top it off with hot water just for appearances. At least for the $6.29 + $1 tip I got two slices of bread with my soup.
I didn't get enough soup and bread at lunch, so for dinner I had Mushroom and Barley Soup with a side of Grilled Teese Sandwich.

Day Eighteen

We've been experiencing some nasty/rainy weather the past few days, so Bryanna's Mushroom Barley Soup sounded like the ideal soup for the week.I had a few preview cups for lunch today.
It was easy to make and turned out very well.
Dinner was Boca Burgers w/Tofutti Singles and Roasted Cauliflower on the side.

Saturday, October 17, 2009

Day Seventeen

We had Veggie Chili for lunch today at Fresh and Organic Bakery in Ashburn. It tasted exactly like TJ's Veggie Chili, but that is a good thing.

Dinner was another Cranberry and Wild Rice Stuffed Gardein Cutlet with a Baked Potato.

Friday, October 16, 2009

Day Sixteen

I planned to go elsewhere for lunch today, but wound up at Whole Food's Global Cuisine Bar again for some Cumin Rice, Indian Garbanzos, Cauliflower & Tomatoes. Dinner was Boca Burgers with Tofutti Singles and Oven Fries.

That's all I got.

Day Fifteen

Today's lunch was Whole Food's Vegan Vegetable Wrap - Grilled Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Carrots, Red Pepper, Red Onions, Eggplant, Lettuce, White Bean Grilled Onion Spread on a Flour Tortilla $5.49. I get a side of Balsamic Viniagrette. Also some Mesquite Chips.

Dinner was Gardein 'Turkey' Cutlets filled w/Cranberry Stuffing ($2.99 a piece) and Roasted Broccoli.Great grub today.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Day Fourteen

I had leftover 'beef' Stroganoff for lunch today.
For dinner, I made Peppers, Onions and Tomatoes in Amarone Sauce from Vegan Epicurean.I didn't have fresh Tomatoes or Pine Nuts.
The Amaranth was good and the veggies were good, but the mixture will take my taste buds some getting used to. I'm looking forward to trying more recipes from this site.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Day Thirteen

Lunch was from Panera Bread today. The 'Mediterranean Veggie' Sandwich on Ciabatta -described as "zesty sweet Peppadew peppers, Cucumbers, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Cilantro Hummus" $5.69 I also got a bowl of Black Bean Soup $4.49.
I ate the sandwich open face -- I've never seen Tomatoes, Onions or Cucumbers sliced so whisper thin. The meer hint of Hummus on the bread amused me as well. Panera corporate honchos must stipulate that each sandwich gets no more than two slivers of Cucumber and two slivers of Onion etc.
Dinner was Boca Chick'n Patties (non-organic!) topped with a Mustard Caper Sauce and Roasted Acorn Squash.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Day Twelve

I managed to control myself today at Whole Foods Hot Bar, just got some Steamed Vegetables and Spicy Vegan Chicken.Dinner tonight was Spaghetti with TJ's Meatless Meatballs.

Mr. SV makes his Spaghetti using Barilla Pasta and Classico Spicy Red Pepper Sauce mixed with Boca Crumbles.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Day Eleven

Where did day ten go???? Lunch today was in D.C. at Old Ebbitt Grill. I was planning to get the Autumn Vegetable Platter, but the Acorn Squash had to be made with butter. So I got the Boca Burger, which was good as always. And since I got home late tonight, Mr. SV thoughtfully picked up dinner for me from Thai Pan.It's hard to take pics in the dark. This is the Si-am Cashew. Tofu sauteed with cashew nuts, onions, bell pepper, water chestnut, scallions and carrots in a mild chili paste.
