the salad bar!

Thai Noodle Salad

$10.99/pound from Whole Foods. Fortunately,
I only bought a little over a half pound because
it was not good. Not spicy. Too vinegary. But
I ate the whole thing anyway.

Mimosa Asian Fusion Restaurant

Mimosa Asian Fusion Restaurant.

I guess we were early.

This is Mr. SV's Tofu with Sweet Basil. My
Kung Pao Tofu is in the background. Both
were delicious and a bargain at $7.95 each.
We will be back soon!

A Smattering Of Kung Pao Seitan

always so sweet, but it was tasty.

Another Soup & Wrap

The four grain and tofu wrap with a bowl of
split pea soup.

Dinner was just a repeat of last night with
steak instead of chicken. Very tasty.

Some Salad With My Dressing

The above is just a serving suggestion. Goddess
dressing goes good on everything.

After the tainted pet & baby food scandals, I'm
getting leery of eating these Chinese faux meats.
Last night we had the 'Chicken Breast'.

Served with Imagine Mushroom Gravy, steamed
Broccoli and a Baked Spud topped with Sour
Supreme.

The Beige and the Brown

Lunch today was from Whole Food's Salad Bar:
Grilled Tofu, Sundried Tomato Dumplings and
Lentil & Tomato Salad

Tonight's Dinner was Black Bean Burrito's.
Unfortunately, I just noticed the third
ingredient of the tortillas is honey.

They came out well. Served as above.

CSA Soup

I added potatoes and pigeon peas. Very yummy!

Blue Moon Cafe

Lunch today was at Blue Moon Cafe in Shepherdstown
West Virginia. The cafe is known for its outdoor dining but
unfortunately, due to Tropical Storm Hanna, we ate
indoors.

We started with the Tuscan White Bean Bruschetta,
("a savory blend of northern white beans, olive oil,
balsamic vinegar, fresh garlic & basil served with
toasted ciabatta fingers") which came out looking unlike
Bruschetta and more like a pile of beans and some
bread crusts. It turned out to be delicious! We loved it!

I had the Veggie Wrap ("Lettuce, tomato, onion,
cucumber, sprouts, hummus, Jack, and sun dried
tomato mayo"). It was just so so. It probably would've
been better if it was made w/the cheese & mayo,
but I certainly felt good after I ate it.

Easiest Dinner

Last night we had Tofu Scramble, Veggie Sausages
and Crispy Hashbrowns. Fast, delicious and easy.

Whole Foods Again

Veggie Cutlets were on the hot bar today so I
had to get some. They were deliciously crisp on
the outside, moist and succulent on the inside.
Stuffed with rice and mushrooms. As a side I got
Roasted Veggies, also delicious.

with Balsamic Viniagrette.

Hot Breads Indian Bakery

Lunch today was from Hot Breads Indian Bakery in Herndon, Virginia. The outside is currently nondescript. They just opened next door to Charcoal Kabob in the K-Mart Shopping Center. This is a partial menu, they have many vegetarian entrees.

I ordered the Alu Tikka Chaat. "A veggie cutlet in
chickpea sauce, onions, mint, garlic and tamarind sauce."

Unfortunately, these Veg. Curry Puffs are not
vegan.

I brought it back to my desk. It was very spicy and delicious!

I can't wait to go back and try other things on their
menu.

C.W. Tiffins

Lunch today was at C.W. Tiffins in Charlestown, West Virginia

Open since April, the restaurant is in a restored historic building.

We sat 'outside' in the enclosed patio addition.
Service was very friendly and accomodating.
They had a limited menu for the Labor Day
holiday, and the Veggie Burger wasn't on it.
Our server was sweet enough to ask the chef
if they could make an exception for me and
they did.

The Veggie Burger was served on Pretzel Bread with
homemade chips. Even though I specified no cheese
and no mayo on my burger, they grated parmesan cheese
on my chips. Oh well, it didn't melt so the cheese was easy
enough to shake off.

Every component of this dish was high quality.
Gorgeous ripe tomatoes, warm soft pretzel
bread, perfectly cooked chips and a very tasty
burger. A store bought previously frozen burger,
possibly Gardenburger, but still delicious.

My only concern from viewing this picture is
where those grill marks came from. I didn't
notice them at the time I ate the sandwich.
Oh well. Whatever was on the grill before my
order must've surely been burned off before
my food hit it.

On Top Of Spaghetti...

...not covered with cheese....
...I had some Trader Joes's meatballs...

...'cuz I eat cruelty free....
That was dinner last night with fresh homemade tomato sauce.
